Legion whips Blues 12-6 then bows 4-0 to Whitby The Port Perry Legion Br. 419 Fastball Club split their Jeague schedule last week. defeating the Oshawa Sr 'A' Blues 12-6 and losing to Whitby 4-0. At Port on Wednesday night, the Oshawa Blues arrived without any of their regular pitchers and had to press 3rd baseman Ed Christopher into duty on the mound. Christopher pitched for Oshawa a few times this year and had a measure of success, but was no match for the Legion squad this night. Port pounded out ten hits and combined with eight walks had Christopher in trouble all night. Port's lumber was sup- plied by hot-hitting Dave Dickson with 3 safeties, Larry Pilkey and Lawrie Williams with 2 hits (both hitting homeruns), with singletons going to Rick Evans, Rob Evans and Todd Wilbur. The pitching was sup- plied by John Annis, rais- ing his overall record to 7-0 in this years play. Although it wasn't a vin- tage, Anms' perfor- mance on this night, it was quite adequate The following night in Oshawa, the Legion team was handcupped on a 2 hitter by Whitby's Mark Coutu. Whitby had it pretty much their way getting eleven hits and four runs. Only a double by Jay Williams and an infield single by Grant Jackson supplied the of- fence for Port. Pitcher Lawrie Williams absorbed the loss, with John Annis Day Camp will stress safety for children This summer Outreach is offering a Day Camp Awareness Programme to your children.
