Sam had lived in Ashburn all his life and will certainly be missed. Our own Bill Burgess is back from a trip to Baffin Island and has given us some in- teresting facts about his travels. It is just a three hour flight to Frobisher Bay. The ice went out while he was there, but there was snow on the beach at York Sound, where he went on an Arc- tic fishing expedition, gave the plane landing problems and prevented the party from staying. Bill spent a lot of time walking the tundra, en- joying the wild flowers which had sprung up. He found about twenty species including moun- tain avens, moss cham- pion, broadleafed willow herb, purple saxifrace, lapland Rhododendron and-artic poppy. At Cape Dorset he visited the co-operative where the Inuit do carv- ing and stone prints. There was no action because the Inuit go out "onthe land' and live in hummocks (tents) in the summer. We are glad Bill is safely back home again. There 1s lots of activi- ty at the Davidchuk home just now. Lisa and Cindy Waschuk of Win- nipeg have been visiting for the past week and their mother Ann came to join them on the weekend. Also Jack's mother from Vernon, B.C. and Mr and Mrs. Clary and daughters Jodene and Diedre from Portage, La Prairie, Manitoba, and Mr and Mrs Frank James of Waterloo and also Miss Ruth Davidchuk of Markham We would also like to say congratulations to Reta and Jack They celebrated a wedding an nmversary recently Ted and Rose Heron enjoved a Reynolds family picnic at the home of Fave and Drew Leaper and son lan last Saturday And recent visitors with them were Robert and Jane McAndless and children Michael and Ariana of Ottawa Florence and Doug Ashton were guests last Saturday with Mrs Ruth Purdy of Mono Mills We have a new home going up in the village on the property former owned by NelsonAshton It will be interesting to see Il grow L.ast Sunday was Rev McEntyre's last Sunday before his holidays starts His sermon title Sunday mormng.
