I TIN Nestleton-Caesarea News by Mabel Cawker Birthday Celebration David and Regenia Walker, Avril and Kyle of Scugog Point, were Sunday evening dinner guests with Sam and Mabel Cawker at the farm - a party for David who was celebrating his birthday on Monday. After the festivities were over they livened things up by going for a hay ride - courtesy of Sam - which was exciting and a lot of fun for everyone. Warmest wishes to David for a wonderful year ahead! A Warm Welcome Jack and Karel Not- tingham of Port Perry, have purchased the farm formerly owned by Carl Adams - just west of Nestleton Village on 7A Highway. The family moved in last weekend. We, in this area, extend a cordial welcome to Jack and Karel Not- tingham and family, Lisa, Lynn and John to this community. Trust they will enjoy living in this vicinity and make many friends. Caesarea Community Church For the special service Sunday morning at the little Interdonominatinal Church in Caesarea, Rev. W.H. Crawford, D.D. conducted the ser- vice and every pew was filled including the extra chairs at the rear. The Sunshine Club capably led by director Jac- queline McDermott rendered several very enjoyable numbers - with Jacqueline accompany- ing on her guitar. Elsie Valentino of Port Perry - a special guest - sang several gospel songs giv- ing much pleasure to the congregation. She also accompanied herself on the guitar. What talent we have in the Township of Scugog! Daniel Pugh Jr. read the portions of Scripture. Speaker Jerry Jonkheer Sr. presented a splendid message. Mabel CawkKker - organist. Love- ly flowers graced the church in memory of Mrs. W.H. Crawford. Next Sunday July 28, Bob Heayn will be the speaker. The foundation for the new Hall is laid and the members expect it to be completed by Fall. Heron This week we received a lovely letter from Kingston from a faithful reader of the Port Perry Star and especially the Ashburn News. Sometimes its a bit hard trying to write the news each week but when you get a nice thank-you let- ter it is encouraging. "Thank you Helen." We have been asked to report the Port Perry Star prize lists are now available. More entries are needed in all sections so please get a book and see what you might like to do. We are sorry Aaron Mathews had a nasty ac- cident and has a very sore thumb. We hope it is all better soon Aaron. Recent visitors at the home of John and Betty Cincurak were Alma Feagan, Sault Ste. Dr. John and Mrs. McKinney enjoyed last week with their family at the cottage north of Napanee. Several from Ashburn attended the 50th wed- ding anniversary of Rev. Dr. and Mrs. Clifton McKay last Saturday in St. Andrews Church, Lindsay. The flowers were love- ly and set the at- mosphere for a beautiful occasion. The bride and groom looked happy and relax- ed surrounded by their loving family. And Dorothy wore her wed- ding dress of 50 years ago. Many lovely things \ were said about the hnoured couple and they deserved them all. We all wish them many more happy years. Last Sunday at Burns Church Dr. Mathew Dy- mond of Port Perry was our guest minister. Dr. Dymond is no stranger to our congregation and it is always a pleasure to have him back. Dr. Dymond gave a very helpful message. The scriptures were read by Theo Knight and Doug Ashton and Hugh Knight sang a fitting solo. Next Sunday Dr. McKay will be here. This will be his last Sunday for this year. Keep happy - smiles do best in a happy place where they quickly spread from face to face. Week of July 16th News Last weekend will be remembered for a long - time in history. When the lovely 85 year young Queen Mother Elizabeth visited Toronto, her beautiful smile is an in- spiration to everyone. We are sorry that Ann Budd had to have surgery in Wellesley Hospital. We sincerely hope she will be well soon and able to come home. Barbara Porter at- tended her class reunion at Orono last Friday and enjoyed renewing lots of friendships. Hilda Hopkins visited with her brother Bill in Sunnybrook Hospital last Thursday. We are glad Bill is improving and the treatments he is receiv- ing there are helping him. Would you like to go on a bus trip to the CNE. There will be a bus leav- ing Myrtle United Church at 9 AM on Aug. 21 and returning approx- imately 4 PM. The cost is $12 per person and in- cludes admission to CNE and Ontario Place as well as the transporta- tion. Ken Brown had some very distinguished guests one night last week and all had a hap- py time. Last Sunday morning at Burns Church, Rev. Dr. Clifton and Mrs. McKay were our special guests and Dr. McKay had charge of the ser- vice.
