Lawyers for the ex- isting property owners will argue that the development 1S premature from a plarin- ing stand-point, and that a portion of the land in question could remain a viable farm unit. It is not known when the Ontario Municipal Board will set a date for the hearing, but 1t can take up to six months for a date to be set. The hearing itself may last only a day or two, but it could be weeks or even months before the Board hands down a decision one way or the other. The Stephenson Point development proposal is the one in which Scugog Mayor Jerry Taylor has a financial interest. Mayor Taylor has con- sistently made public this interest whenever the matter was in front of council, and has not been present in the Chambers when the issue was discussed by council.
