Before his return home Brian en- joyed a three week-long tour of Europe when he saw the many sights of that great continent with fellow Rotary exchange students. On Friday evening his parents, Ruby and Richard Van- Camp hosted a weiner roast for neighbours and friends as a welcome home party for Brian. The Blackstock Safety Seekers wound up their club with a combination meeting and swimming party at the home of Julie Byers on Tuesday. This 4-H project has MODULAR 4 SERVICING | PHILIPS dealt with satety in the home, the workplace and in recreational situa- tions. For the Achieve- ment program, an of- ficer from the Durham Police Force will be speaking on Drinking and Driving as well as demonstrating the breathalyzer. The wedding reception and dance were held at the Oakwood Community Centre. They will be honeymooning for two weeks in Spain. Upon their return they will make their home in Manilla. Epsom Area News by Jean Jeffery Recently Mr. and Mrs. B. Houghland visited in the Hamilton Niagara area. They visited cousins Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Oldfield and family at Vinemount, visited cousins Mr. and Mrs. Peter Zeller at Grimsby then Sat. evening visited their daughter, Esther in Hamilton. The neighbours joined to form a shivaree party for the 25th anniversary of Walter and Elva Kerry. All in good fun and enjoyed by all. Mr. Chickenpox took a strangle hold on Travis MacSween and he had to spend a couple of days in Scarborough General Hospital but I'm glad to report that he's 0.K. now and back to his mischievous self. Mrs. Eva Sutcliffe, Margaret Miller and Donna Brockman spent a few days in Bancroft recently. Evelyn Bray of Whitby visited at the Sutcliffe home on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Slute of Raglan were Saturday evening guests with Lorne and Eileen. Mrs. Mildred Thomp- son visited with Mr. and Mrs. Dave Clarke and family on Wednesday and on Saturday she was a guest at a birthday par- ty for Grant and Carrie Bright. Birthday greetings to the Brights! Euchre winners this week were: Ladies 1st Reta Boe, 2nd Gladys Slack and low Debbie Short. Men's 1st Jean Pogue, 2nd Joe McCaslin and low Gordon Wilson. Freeze-out winners were Eva Pegg and Corley Ashenhurst, 2nd were Ruby Bryant and Grant Bright. There will be another euchre this Fri- day in the Hall at 8 p.m. It looks like our highway is going to get a face-lift this week as the heavy machinery moved in on the weekend and will be re-surfacing the pavement. Work is progressing Christine are visiting with Sharon's mother, most of the family were home to greet them. There are so many to visit it makes it difficult to pack it all inside two weeks. Of course, they have taken time to go to 2 Blue Jays games. I couldn't call Mrs. Ross Evans as Ross and Barbara have moved to their new home and have not a phone number as yet. The community wishes them a long and happy time in their semi- retirement and [ bet they'll still be as busy as bees. had a nicely on Arnold Kerry's new home down by the airport. Also the house being built on the N/W corner of the village in- tersection is starting to take shape. As I struggle to gather up news each week I can't help but think that there must be something of interest going on that I haven't been informed of. Those areas east, south and west of the village lack informants. If anyone has anything of interest please phone me before Monday morning at 985-7564. I would ap- preciate help.
