All the marbles were on the table in game three Friday night in front of a large crowd at Nestleton, and the two teams put on quite a display of fastball. The ump im- mediately ejected the player from the game (he apparently had two previous warnings for foul language in the game). That left Coboconk with just eight players on the bench and Cart- wright was awarded the win by default. The ejection and forfeit was protested vehemently by the Coboconk coach and players to no avail. The Cartwright players were jubilant, although they would have much preferred to win it on the field. Coboconk jumped into an early 3-0 lead at their first bats when pitcher Andrew Faulkner lined a two out shot to deep left centre that rolled all the way to the fence for a home run. But Cartwright came right back in the next in- ning with two runs after Kevin Gibson was hit by a pitch and scored on a Danny Maw double. He was driven in with an in- field hit and the score was 3-2. Pitchers Faulkner and Daryl Leatherdale for Cartwright then sailed through the next five in- nings and the score re- mained 3-2 until the bot- tom of the 7th and the last gasp for Cartwright to get the tying run across. With two out, Paul Allen kept things alive with a single, followed by another single from Leatherdale. Allen stole third base and then pull- ed out all the stops to scamper home after a walk to Chris Daulmage. The Coboconk catcher was not able to hold the ball while trying to put the tag on Allen reaching for home plate. That sent the game in- to extra innings, and Danny Maw came back in to pitch in the top of the 8th. In both the 9th and 10th innings, Coboconk stranded two base runners. Cartwright also left several runners on the base paths, thanks to some great pitching by Faulkner on the mound for Coboconk. He went the full distance and seemed to be just as strong and quick after 11 innings as was at the outset. Cartwright evened the series at one game each with a 5-3 win at home Thursday night. Danny Maw and Daryl Leather- dale shared the mound duties in this one and had a 5-0 lead going into the final inning before the visitors pushed three runs across. But that was all they could get. This will be the second time in as many years that Cartwright has represented Zone D at the O.A.S.A. champion- ship tournament and coach Colin Haines is confident his players will give a fine showing against the best *"'D" level Pee Wee com- munities in the province.
