Last week the Seagrave Store mytes team played Uxbridge Nurseries Pine Cones. The Seagrave team won the game easily even though it lent 4 of its finest to the Pine Cones. En- joy an evening out at the Oshawa Little Theatre, 62 Russett Ave. The musical comedy, Live from Casablanca is in its second week with perfor- mances on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, August 22 to 24 at 8:00. Seagrave"s own Gretel Cameron is a member of the cast playing the part of a Mexican tourist in the show. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for students and are available from Saywell's or the theatre box office. It will soon be time for Seagrave Playgroup to meet again. Preschoolers who are at least 3 years old by Dec. 31 are welcome to enroll for the Fall term. Playgroup meets on Wednesday afternoon at Seagrave United Church from 1:00 to 3:00. The emphasis is on having fun and the program in- cludes games, crafts and stories. The cost this term will be $24 for the 12 afternoons. Garden Club wins Clarence Tink Memorial by Bernice Mairs The August meeting of the Pine Ridge Garden Club was held on Tues- day the 6th at the Nestleton Hall with president, Shirley Love, in the chair. The Clarence Tick memorial award was received for the best display of year's work. This award was received at the annual meeting of the Ontario Horticulture Association for district 17 held in Cannington in the Spring. Volunteers were re- quested to sell tickets on the quilt and sweater at the craft sale to be held on August 16th at the Community Nursing Home. The Club received a letter of thank you from Doreen Kendal for mak- ing the flower attractions at the Museum for Pioneer Days. The speaker for the evening was Barbara Weese, Rural Service Specialist from Bowmanville branch, Dept. of Agriculture. Mrs. Weese gave a very interesting and infor- mative talk on freezing and storing fruits and vegetables. She had some books to distribute for those desiring further information. The monthly competi- tion for "My Favourite House Plant' was won by Alice Turcotte, Lisa Ryan and Katy Visser and donated by Ives Florists and Eleanor's Flowers. The door prize was won by Marilyn Brown.
