EEE a i __~, aa I Ra Port penalty shot gives 4-3 victory Having won away last last week at Orono 4-2, Port Perry were really hoping to win here at home and advance to the next round of the Bowmanville United Soc- cer House League play- offs. Right from the opening whistle the play was fast and furious and went from end to end. The edge on shots on goal went to Port Perry. This pressure paid off when after 20 minutes of play, Jamie Brown took a cross from Mike Toye and blasted the ball past the Orono goalie. Five minutes later after some good team passing in the mid field, Alex Cramner put Mike Kosurko in the clear and Mike made no mistake to make the score 2-0 for Port. Orono came storming back and some good defensive play by Vince Tripp and Jeff Goreski and some excellent saves by Vince Criscione in goal kept their shooters off the scoreboard at halftime. The second half got underway with the Port Perry team on the attack but the Orono goalie made some great saves. Five minutes into the se- cond half the Port Perry defense were caught up field and Rick Blaise for Orono gave Criscione no chance in goal with a shot into the top right corner of the net. Port 2, Orono 1. Orono continued to press but some good mid-field play by halfback Neil Mark and Scugog Youth Soccer Jeff Andrews kept them from getting any effec- tive shot on goal. The play continued to go from end to end then at the 22 minutes mark Orono were awarded a penalty shot. Ted Gau- dent made the score 2-2. Six minutes later Ted Gaudent gave Orono the lead 3-2 when his shot hit the far post and went in. A short time later James Stubbs lofted a high ball into the Orono goal area and Mike Kosurko head- ed the ball past the div- ing Bailey in net for Orono 3-3.
