Mr. and Mrs. Fred Olsen spent the weekend in Montreal. Daughter Shelley has opened a Pro shop there at the Rockland Club. Nice go ing Shelley, Prince Albert is proud of you Florence Smith 1s home after a 10 day trip to Alaska, eight days on the boat and 13 hundred and 86 miles later, after seeing ice berg, seals and walrus, Florence came back to all this rain in Prince Albert Sympathy goes out to the Bredin family in the loss of John's mom last week Congratulations to Art and Ruby Fielding over in Manchester on their 50th wedding anniversary. I see Miss Hazel Balfour passed away last week. Hazel lived for years in Prince Albert on the corner of Mary and Josephine Sts. Sympathy goes out from Prince Albert to her nieces and nephews. les Beacock 1s sull trying out the beds in Port Perry Hospital. We are all thinking of you, les, and come on out soon. Please remember the yard sale on Sept. 20 and 21 at Helen and Bill Wozney's on the Oshawa Road. The UCW are look- ing for anything and everything to help them out. Call me if you need a pick up at 985-7873. And speaking of you and me, it's UCW time again, Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 8 sharp in the church base- ment of the United Church. Hope to see you out. Ashburn WMS makes plans for the offering Ashburn Area News by Mrs. E. Heron The Ashburn group of the WMS met at the home of Florence Ashton on Wednesday evening of last week, with eleven members present. The meeting was con- ducted by the president, Bernice Gardner, and the opening worship was conducted by Muriel Fisher, who used a beautiful poem as her message for the worship service. Catherine Hum- phrey led in prayer. During the business, plans were made for the Fall thank offering, more details later. Chrissie McKinney gave the study taken from the first chapter of the new study book, which is about the native Indians, their customs and their ways of life that we might get to unders- tand each other better. Chrissie had some in- teresting objects to make the study more real to us. The hostess served a lovely lunch. Sunday School atten- dance was up last Sun- day. A sign that things are getting back to nor- mal after the holidays. The Sunday School will sponsor a bus going to Wonderland next Satur- day, Sept. 14th.
