Officials with the Association are predic- ting that the number could climb to 450 or more by the time the playing season starts. The largest single group is in the Novice age (eight to nine) where already there are 90 youngsters signed to play. One reason for the large number in this group is that several seven year olds who have advanced through the Tyke instructional group will be allowed to play in Novice. But because the age groups are "frozen," it means that for this year there will be no plavers moving up in the age category, aside from some exceptions in the Novice group. Ice making at the Scugog Arena is slated to get underway this week and should be ready by the weekend. Minor Hockey will be starting pre-season skating and drills on September 16.
