14 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuetday, Sept. 17, 1985 Nestleton-Caesarea News by Mabel Cawker First Fall Meeting Well Attended Honeydale Women's Institute met in the Municipal Hall, Sept. 12, for their first fall meeting with a fine at- tendance. 1st Vice Pres Mabel Cawker chaired the meeting 1n the absence of the President She welcomed members and several visitors and opened in regular form - Helen Thompson .pranist. The roll call was well answered by each member naming her most cherished legacy. Minutes were approved as read by Sec'y Jean Carnochan and a splen- did financial statement was presented by Treas. Irene Philip. Some members are on the sick list - we trust they will soon be feeling much better. Business Reports were given of the successful District Tea, Craft and Bake sale held this past Tuesday in LLatcham Centre - and the results of the Fall Fair exhibit. A Mystery Bus Trip is scheduled for October 1st - leaving the Plaza at 9 am Anyone wishing to go, call Presi dent Clara Warren as soon as possible. Ph. 985-2575. Marjorie McCombe 1s the ap- pointed delegate to the 83rd Women's Institute Area Convention to be held in the Royal York Hotel, Nov. 5 and 6. Theme -"International Youth Year." Trust many are planning to at- tend. Women's Institute Branches have been ask- ed to send pictures of in- terest to the Area Public Relations Officer - so that she can arrange a display for the Conven- tion. They must be in by Sept. 30. Marion Johnston is attending to this item of interest. Programme re Tweed- muir History was taken by Marjorie McCombe who presented an ex- cellent resume of the history of the Port Perry Fall Fair, down through the years from the begin- ning - much to the enjoy- ment of all present. Before closing the meeting two minutes silence was observed as a tribute to Vera Melton - a fine member who passed away recently. After singing O Canada and the W.IL Grace, tea was served by the group composed of Vera Honey, Mary Van Ham, Irene Philip and Reni Bouwmeister and a visit was enjoyed. Ap- preciation was voiced by Mary Pickard to all who assisted - making the meeting a successful one. Caesarea Euchre Results On Wed. evening at the Caesarea Centre a good attendance for the week- ly card party. Prize win- ner - Judy Westall - 85 Second prize - a tie - with Kay Brown and Roy Werry each holding a 74. Low - Paul Radford - 52. Refreshments were serv- ed at the close and sociability enjoyed. Next week - usual place - usual time - for fun. Happy Event Our warmest con- gratulations and best wishes to Keith and Tam- my Mullins of St Christopher, who are the proud parents of a fine baby boy, Jesse Shane, born in Oshawa General Hospital on Tuesday last. Excellent year- end reports were presented by all con- veners and several new projects for the coming year were discussed. These projects should be of interest and help In getting the support of all members. KEEP IN MIND the Eastern Star Prelude to Autumn Fashion Show held tonight - Tues. Sept. 17, at the Port Perry High School Auditorium at 8 p.m. Good entertainment will be a feature - as well as draws throughout the evening. Superintendent Richard MacKenzie assisted by Ken Weir and Dwight Davis gave out the Church S. School pro- motions.
