Yake, George Harris and George Burnett each col- lected a pair of hits for Goodwood in this game to support pitcher Darryl Norton Trevor Till, Don Beaton, Neil Rodd and John Foster had two hits cach for the Gamblers but they only scored 4 runs in the game and went down to their first defeat in league play this year Ken Goreski and Roland Osske shared the mound duties for Green- bank with Darryl Norton going the route for Goodwood. The next night in Good- wood the Gamblers Russ Korbak squared off against Goodwood's Dave Jackson and for five innings it looked like Goodwood was again go- ing to upset the Gambler squad. Dave Jackson had picked up two timely hits to aid his own cause and had driven in 3 runs to give Goodwood a 3-0 lead with two out in the Gambler fifth inning Then the big bats of the Greenbank team started to connect and Gary Baker and Greg Rodd hit solo home runs to narrow the count to 3-2. In the top of the sixth inning Don Beaton hit a line shot to left field and John Foster drew a walk. This. set the stage for right fielder Ray Meisner who doubled home Beaton to tie the game and Foster scored the winning run on a bad throw to third base. Again Goodwood jumped into an early lead when Dav¢ Jackson opened the second inning with a base on balls. He was out at second when George Harris grounded into a fielders choice play but Adam Young swatted a two out triple to left centre and Harris scored the go ahead run. Greenbank finally got started in the fourth inn- ing when Don Beaton singled up the middle and Gary Baker clouted a mammoth home run to put the Gamblers ahead by a 2-1 score. The Greenbank team scored again in the sixth when Beaton and Baker teamed up again and the final score was 3-1 for the Gamblers. Roland Osske had an outstanding game as he allowed only three Good- wood hits and struck out 12 batters. Only Barry Ferguson, Darryl Norton and Adam Young could solve Osske's pitches in this game.
