24 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, Sept. 17, 1985 Corn roast, pot luck supper get Fall activities underway Utica and Area News by Vera Brown Church and Sunday School this week are at Utica Church at 11:15 am. AL 6:30 p.m, there will be a corn roast held at Epsom Church and everyone is invited to at- tend. Anyone wishing hotdogs, please supply your own and please bring finger desserts. Corn and refreshments are supplied. Garage & bake sale Members of the Durham Region Works department will be holding a garage and bake sale this coming Saturday, Sept. 22 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. All proceeds will be turned over to the United Way of Durham Region. Looking ahead to Oc- tober 4th, there will be a pot luck 'supper and dance to be held in Utica Hall as a get-together with the student ministers who will be visiting the charge and on November 7th in Utica Hall, the Board of Stewards will be holding their annual Fall beef supper. This Saturday the Hall Board will be holding a dance with music by the Country Ramblers. Euchre winners at the Hall last Friday evening were for the ladies: 1st Elva Kidd, 2nd Aileen Snooks and low Nerta Masters; and for the men: 1st Bruce Houghland, 2nd Marlene Skinner and low was Lloyd Pogue. Freeze-out winners were Ernie Luke and Blanche Rose and Mr. and Mrs. George Harper were 2nd. There will be another euchre in Fred and Angie Brown and baby Thomasina of Sunderland visited with Bill and Vera Brown on Sunday afternoon. Doug and Judy MacsS- ween and boys spent the weekend in Niagara Falls with Doug's ball team from Greenbank. While there they viewed the Falls and visited the Wax Museum. Mildred Thompson and Phyllis Clarke spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Sloan at Spencerville and on Saturday called on Mr. and Mrs. Ken Tait at Lunnenburg. Bill and myself joined with the family at the Gerrow home in Pon- typool on Sunday after- noon to celebrate the bir- thdays of grandsons, Jeremy (6) and Justen (4). Mrs. Mildred Thomp- son and Mrs. Phyllis Clarke attended the wed- ding ceremeny on Satur- day for Mr. Don Piette and Gail Russell in Thor- nhill. Mrs. Thelma Philp of Brooklin was a Sunday guest with Mildred. The sale willbeheldat two weeks (Sept. 27th). the Regional Works Mr. and Mrs. Dale depot on Conlins Road, Whitby, just east of Thickson Road. Birthday greetings to former Utica people Mrs. Louie Mitchell who now resides at Hillside Beare of Burlington were Sunday visitors with Mrs. Crosier. Manor and Miss Ada Stephenson of Port Perry. Irvine The Senior Citizens resumed their regular meetings September 1J after two months vaca- tion. Opened by the President, who welcom- ed everyone back, a good attendance was on hand.
