Mayor Taylor cir- culated copies of the let- ter to members of coun- cil and the press at Mon- day's meeting. Mr. Aldred had been seeking written answers to several questions in- cluding the number of meetings the mayor has missed because of the confhict of interest, whether 1t has affected the Mayor's duties at Regional council, and whether the Mayor has been docked pay for the portions of meetings he has missed due to the conflict. Mayor Taylor replied that he has missed only those portions of meetings where the sub- division was being discussed. his duties at Regional council have not been affected because it is a local issue, and no member of council 1s docked for missing meetings or por- tions of meetings. The letter to Mr. Aldred had been prepared by lawyer Michael Fowler, who has been retained by Mayor Taylor on this matter. Mr. Aldred first asked for answers to these questions in June, and as recently as September 16, he said in a letter that if he didn't receive answers, he is prepared to take the matter 'to a higher authority."
