FOCUS. JAN.07.82pqs.indd 5 lang Faces! With Christmas and New Year’s celebrations now behind us, Scugog area businesses are beginning to focus on the year ahead. Traditionally the early months of a new year slow down from the hectic pace of the weeks leading to Christmas... but it’s still interest- ing to note a few changes have taken place over the past month. New to Queen St. in December was “Kenneth Bell King of Glitz” which opened at 151 Queen St., the former home of Mrs. RB’s Fix- in’s. This unique store carries fashion accessories including hand bags and watches. And just off the main drag, two blocks south at 158 Casimir St., John Bucholski has opened Axion-MacDonald Insurance Services. John’s office handles home, auto and business insurance. On the negative side, we're sorry to report the closure of the “Olde Country Bulk Store” during the final days of November. This great little store offered up all kinds of bulk food products at its Water St. site, across from Palmer Park. And immediately south of the bulk food store - The Waterfront Diner remains empty after closing its doors a couple of months ago - leaving yet another vacant space in the downtown. And slipping back to the main drag, we noticed window signs went up last month announcing the closure of Just B-Cuz at 255 Queen St. This store was a valued outlet for crafters, artists and tal- ented youngsters and will be missed. Hopefully the new year will bring budding entrepreneurs out to fill the current store vacancies scattered throughout the town.
