PPHS Sports fans! Another athletic season has started and all interschool sports are well on their way with try-outs finished and the teams chosen. The leagues have started and here is a quick update. The girls Field Hockey team now has a new league to participate in. Our team has responded well and they got off to a good start with wins over archrivals Pickering 2-0 and Dunbarton 3-0 while allowing a total of only 3 shots on net for the two games. The team has added a new coach this year. Miss Workman has replaced Mrs. Smith and she's assisted by player-coach Amy Ware. Good Luck! Basketball season is in full gear for the three girls teams. All three squads are very strong and are ex- pected to be among the top con- tenders in each of their respective LOSSA leagues. The season official- ly started last Monday and PPHS was host to two triple headers. The Midgets won both their games han- dily; the scores were 50-7 against Saint Stephen's and 48-7 against Central. This team has a new coach who is another new teacher to the school, Ms. Peck. Good Luck! The juniors came out on the right side with two convincing wins; the FOR GENTS! for the month of October The Hair Centre PORT PERRY PLAZA 985-7232 scores were 32-10 against Cart- wright and 41-13 against Central. The senior squad has a split record with a win over Cartwright 44-39 and a hard fought loss to Central. Boys volleyball has begun with some exhibition games played. The Seniors are very strong this year and they were in good form playing Ajax, Anderson and Dunbarton: the scores were a 8-0 win, a 3-2 win and a 6-0 loss respectively. The Juniors are playing well this year as well. They have only participated in two exhibition games and have a split record; a win over Ajax and a loss to Dunbarton. The team has Mr. Do- ble returning this year as a coach. Welcome back! Boys soccer has commenced with the season almost half over. The Seniors have fought some hard bat- tles losing to Ajax 3-0, Anderson 4-0 and Dunbarton 6-1. The team found their power and beat Harwood 4-1. The Junior squad has had some close games although losing to Ajax 4-1, Anderson 1-0 and Dunbarton 6-1. They also managed to have a vic- tory over Harwood 4-1.
