lili nan EE Be RB Ra ean, Reverend Lamb invited Scugog Island Area News by Mrs. Earl Reader Last year we enjoyed Rev. Bill Lamb so much, as the Church An- niversary speaker, he was im- mediately invited back again for the Annual Harvest Home Service at the Island Museum Church this Sun- day, October 6 at 7:30 p.m. So if you missed him last year, be sure to take advantage of his second visit from Toronto. For those who come every year, you will not want to miss the music and lusty singing of the old fashioned hymns. You have a chance to meet former friends and share a social hour too. Many who have forgotten the Church of their youth will enjoy too, recalling earlier days within its walls. Last week, Irene Carter enjoyed a couple of days visit from a friend of their nursing training days. They hadn't met for 10 years, so there was plenty of catching up. Marion Carter missed this opportunity as she was visiting her sister. Madeline and Bob Cawker have returned after a lengthy motor trip of 5 weeks to the West Coast. Tho' they enjoyed little good weather, the rest of the trip was pleasant. Last week Allan Fry, formerly of Oshawa, but now of B.C. visited with his cousins, the Redman family. Their mothers, Ethel Redman and Lil. Fry were sisters. Marci Redman enjoyed a weekend in Montreal with 2 other friends. The 'Head' UCW meets tonight (Wednesday) at the home of Bonnie Gerrow. The 'Grace' UCW at the home of Mrs. Elsie Pogue. Now we have some important news from our Island boys. There are 34 boys in the Scout movement, but an assistant leader is still need- ed for the Cubs. Otherwise, leaders have responded very well. More boys are always welcome. They may register at any of the regular meetings as follows: Beavers on Tuesday 4 to 5:15 p.m.: Cubs - Tues- Scugog duplicate bridge score Winning Scores for Wednesday, September 25 Afternoon Game: 1 Ida and Joe Hurtig - 29', points, 2. On Sunday the Island United welcomed an overflowing number even at the early hour, when wor- shippers arrived from Manchester, Toronto and elsewhere to take ad- vantage of the perfect autumn day when Rev. Vic Wood of Toronto and long time friend of Rev. Brian Robinson was the guest speaker. Rev. Wood has recently retired from Westway United Church where he served for 25 years. It was also a special occasion to welcome little Lisa Adele, daughter of Rev. Brian and Carol Robinson, into the church family. Representing the Scugog Pastoral Charge Bill Lamb offered the parents special congratulations and stated that it is the first baby within our memorv to have been born to our ministering clergy liv- ing in the Manse. After the service, many friends of the family remain- ed for lunch in the Church and a social time. We'll be pleased to have Rev. Don Tansley with us again for a couple of Sundays, as he is now no strangei to this whole area.
