After a great response last year to sports nights for teens (age 13 and up) the fun is set to begin again. It's called Good Times because that's what it 1s. Young people "from all around the area gather at the High School gyms. on the first and third Saturday night of each month from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. They make full use of all gyms by playing all kinds of sports and games, meeting new friends and sharing in challenging presenta- tion. The Durham Region Family YMCA has organized a bus trip to Kitchener and St. Jacobs on Saturday, October 26, 1985. The bus leaves the Port Perry Medical Center at 7:30 a.m. The day begins with a visit to the famous Kit- chener Market. While there, with map in hand, comfortable shoes and a large shopping bag, you can visit a number of factories for shoes and clothing. By 12:00 noon, you will be on your way to Bingeman Park, Berkley Room, for a well deserved smorgasbord lunch. At 1:30 p.m. you'll board the bus for St. Jacobs to see the talented craft people at work in the silo. By 3:30 p.m, you'll be on your way home with a last stop at the last covered bridge in On- tario. This bridge is often referred to as the "Kissing Bridge '"" The ten- tative return time in Port Perry 1s 5:30 pm The cost for the one day trip 1s $35.00 which includes bus fare and lunch. The outing has been designed and co-ordinated by two Port Perry residents, Martha Larsen and Marilyn Youmans. In the Port Perry exchange subscribers will soon be able to take advantage of an option that provides a one-third discount off all calls placed to Toronto telephone ex- change and in the Blackstock ex- change the same discount will be provided off all calls placed to the Oshawa exchange. The new service is called "Selectel'" (formerly called Op- tional Calling Plan), and was ap- proved on May 24 by the CRTC. In the Port Perry exchange for a monthly fee of $3.65 residence; $8.60 for business, "Selectel" subscribers are entitled to a one-third discount on all customer-dialed calls placed to Toronto without operator assistance. While in Blackstock for a monthly fee of $2.30 residence; $5.95 for business, "Selectel" subscribers are entitled to the same discount on calls placed to Oshawa. This discount applic ; in addition to existing evening and weekend dis- counts in both communities. The service will be available star- ting November 1, and from November 1 to January 31, 1986, customers will be able to subscribe to "*Selectel'" without incurring the normal-applicable administration charges ($14.00 residence; $25.75 business). "Selectel'" is a one-way service available between qualifying ex- changes, where the distance bet- ween the two exchanges' rate cen- tres is 40 miles or less. In addition. at least 50 per cent of subscribers in the originating exchange must place at least one call per month to the ter- minating exchange. Potpourri craft sale On Friday, October 25th, from 12 noon till 9 p.m. and Saturday, from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m., there will be a Christmas Craft Sale at the Town Hall, Queen Street, Port Perry. A large variety of handmade crafts, featuring chocolate moulding, cake decorating, Folk Art, ceramics, Cabbage Patch clothes, reproductions of children's furniture and tables, weaving, Christmas decorations, silk flowers, knitted items and many more items; also a bake sale.
