Caesarea Youth Club Activities The first dance- an opener for fall was held in the Caesarea Centre on Friday evening with a fine number of youngsters 11-15 years on hand for the fun mght. Disc Jockeys Scott and Steve McEachern, provided the music. Chaperones, Wayne Bradt and Joe Williamson. Winners of the spot dance were Donnie Hughes and Yvette Renes they received records with the compliments of Ir- win Smith Music of Port Perry. Pop, chips and so forth were for sale When the profit was counted up- the young fry had $140 to their credit. What a wonderful group of hard- working young folks. WM con ducted the opening ceremonies of Blue Ray Chapter, assisted by Brother Wilfred Alexander, P P of Oshawa, with officers in their respective stations. Many Chapters were represented, and Sister Joyce welcomed many dignitaries and sisters and brothers from other Chapters. Brother Wilfred Alex: ander extended a welcome to Blue Ray officers and members. After expressing a sincere thank you to the officers and members of Blue Ray Chapter for the great honour conferred upon her, and the Installing Board for the beautiful In- stallation - the newly installed W.M. Sister Marguerite Mitchell in her opening speech stressed active co- operation in the year ahead, striv- ing at all times to uphold the stan- dard which the Chapter has attain- ed. She asked the officers to learn their work thoroughly, and learn also, the things for which the Order stands. The theme for the year -- Bluebird of Happiness." The newly installed W.P. Brother Chris Dennis spoke briefly, asking for support of officers and members - and expressed appreciation to other Chapters for their support at all times. Sister Marguerite's husband Ron Mitchell was introduced and warm applause greeted him. Many gifts were received to com- memorate the occasion. The incom- ing officers presented Sister Marguerite with a lovely silver evening bag and the Past Matrons Club gave her a Bible She was the recipient of many other lovely gifts from family. friends and other chapter members At the close of the meeting a sumptuous informal buffet supper was enjoyed, convened by Judy Mit- chell and Brenda Newsome- who made the delicious cake, concluding a most memorable evening in the history of Blue Ray. As a new year commences may we all strive for a year of dedication and service which is vital to the benevolent work of the Order. Fred Swann in the pulpit. Shirley Scott was the organist with Alison Scott and Stan McNeely in the choir adding the final touch to the music. Psalm 107 and Scripture Deuteronomy 8: 1-10 was read. Rev. F. Swann spoke on, Giving thanks to God, through song, service and sacrifice." Lovely vegetables and fruits- the 'bounty of the fall season' enhanced the front of the church- which was arranged by Dorothy McCabe. She was thanked for her work of Art by the minister. A nice attendance and the Sunday School is growing with Dorothy Lee- Superintendent. Nestleton United Church At the Nestleton United Church on Sunday. the congregation was reminded that Thanksgiving is Thanks Living There was a good turn out for the Family Service Flowers. harvest fruits and vegetables were tastefully arrang ed in the sanctuary by the Sunday School. Greeting at the door were Harold and Muriel Wheeler The service began with a processional hymn. "Come Ye Thankful People. Come." Verna Windrem assisted Rev. Dale Davis by reading the Lessons and Prayers. The children's story concerned the magic words "Thank You. They also led the con- gregation in singing, * 'If | Were A Butterfly" with Rev. Davis playing the piano accompaniment The choir's contribution to the service was. Count Your Blessings." The minister's thoughtful sermon was. "Thanksgiving Taken for Granted." A reminder of the Special Anniversary Service at 2:30 p.m. October 27th. / (Caesarea Community Church On Thanksgiving Sunday at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Charles Clarke, Port Perry, conducted the service. Daniel Pugh Jr., read the Scripture. from I Thessalonians 5: 1-18 and Rev. Clarke's message was entitled "A Thankful Heart." A very good attendance. Police charge youth A 19 year old Port Perry man was charged with careless driving following a single car accident Oc- tober 12th. Neill McEntyre of North Street was driving a 1978 Volkswagon along the 9th Concession of Scugog Township at Durham Road 7 at 2 a.m. when the car failed to stop at a stop sign. Police say the vehicle was travell- ing westbound when it missed the sign and slid into a ditch on the west side of Regional Road 7. Damage to the car is estimated at $2,000 and the driver received with careless driving minimal injuries. A passenger in the car, 16 year old Annette Goslin, was treated for minor injuries. MISCHIEF A Water Street woman was given a rude start when she was woke up by a man attempting to break into her apartment at 3:30 a.m. on Oc- tober 12. Police say she was sleeping when she heard a crash and realized the man had smashed her door from its frame. Damage to the door 1s estimated at $100.
