Work got underway last May on a new barn measuring 70 by 160 feet that has stalls for 50 horses. The in- door arena, complete with viewing bleachers was extended and is now 70 by 240 feet. The floor of the barn has been done completely with inter-locking brick and Mr Thornton said it is totally efficient for the feeding, care and cleaning of the horses. The dining room, aptly named the King's Plate Lounge, is managed by Glenda Perry and attractively finished with oak trim. The lounge is licenced for 119 and seats 60 patrons comfortably for breakfasts, luncheons and full course dinners prepared by chef Marcel Neyroud. He's well known in the Port Perry area as he at one time operated the Conway Gardens Restaurant. Mr. Thornton told the Star in an interview last week that aside from offering full equestrian facilities, Greystone is designed for all members of the family, even those who aren't interested in horses or riding. Greystone boasts a games room, tennis courts and heated out-door swimming pool. 'We want families to come here and spend the entire day," he said. Along with the construction of the new barn and addition to the arena, Greystone now has 400 acres of land. A network of riding trails weaves through 300 acres of bush and fields that stretch from the Shirley Road to the Scugog-Oshawa town line to the south.
