14 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, October 22, 1985 Boys win firs Prince Albert and A by Earline Armstrong On Wednesday, October 16, Prince Albert Public School had qualifying teams participating in the Durham Region Cross Country Running finals at Trillium Valley Park. It was a brisk cool sunny day and all Prince Albert teams faired well Of special mention is the 8 year old boys team who managed to win a first place in the Regional Cham- pionship. From the village of Prince Albert, the winning team members were: Jeremy Geer, Greg Thomp- son and lan Shrigley The other team members from Port Perry and area were Eddie Maunder, Jacob Robinson, Gavin Carnegie, Jeff Griffin and Andrew O'Toole. Congratulations boys, keep up the good job. Don't forget the beef supper at the United Church in Prince Albert on Sunday, October 27. The homemade rea News pies, beef, vegetables and coffee will be all in plenty and waiting for you. Lots of tickets are still on hand. Phone 985-8146 if you want a ticket. On Wednesday evening October 16, 17 ladies were in attendance for the regular meeting in the church basement. Roll call was answered by the ladies telling what they would dress up as on Halloween night. Devotional was done by Catherine Daigle, Janet Vernon and Myrtle Snelgrove. Plans were made for the beef supper on Sunday, October 27 and for another supper on November 28 and again on December 16. The girls are going to be busy with their fingers in the cooking pot A delicious lunch of muffins and fruit cocktail was served by Sylvia Lindsay and Eva Hunter. Next meeting will be November 13 in the church basement at 8 sharp. Vernon Graham from Winnipeg, Manitoba, is visiting his mom, Mabel Strong over on Simcoe Street. Hope you enjoy your stay here, Vernon. Thursday evening, October 17, saw 11 tables of euchre filled at Prince Albert Community centre. Ladies high was Fran Gibson, se- cond was Ruby Birkett and low was Margaret Watson. Mens high was Norman Rohrer, second was Phyllis Clarke and low was Percy Griffin. There will be the usual euchre on Thursday, October 24 but none on October 31. Even euchre players need a trick or treat! Saturday, November 2 is the an- nual Hospital Auxiliary Fall dance at the Latcham centre. It's $15.00 for the night and Ilean Pugh at 985-2156 has tickets. The D.J. will be Glen Howsam. The Hospital Auxiliary plan to buy an Infant Bassinette Resuscitator because the old one has had it so plan to attend this dance and help them out. The general meeting of Port Perry Lawn Bowling Club and Pot Luck supper was held on Friday night October 18 in the Prince Albert Community Centre. Those attending from Prince Albert were Mr. and Mrs. Grant Hunter, Mr and Mrs Jim Martin and Mr. and Mrs Clayton Love. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Osler were in the United Church on Sunday in Port Perry to see their granddaughter, Kara Anne, christened. Beth Grills was out to Alberta recently to see her newest grand- children, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Grills. Seems to me that is where a lot of Prince Albert people go, out to Alberta. Mr. and Mrs. Les Beacock along with Grace's sister and husband, ft in cross country "The Dewvitts" from Oshawa were in) Lindsay last week to attend the funeral of Mr. G. Plaunt. On Sunday, October 20, Les and Grace Beacock were given a treat by their son Don and wife Marilyn when they were taken to Kleinburg to visit the McMichael Art Gallery and wouldn't you guess it with these four - they just couldn't resist the Town and Country Restuarant before returning home.
