Mrs. Jackson was born Alma Ger- trude Elliott in the town of Cen- treton, Northumberland County, September 16, 1897, the daughter of Rev. Wesley Elliott and his wife, Frances Adamson. During her father's posting as minister of the Methodist Church in Port Perry, from 1917 to 1919, she met her future husband, James Ed- win (Ted) Jackson. The couple were married June 15, 1922 at Belleville, Ontario. They lived all their mar- ried life in Port Perry. Mrs. Jackson, 'Gertie, as she was affectionately known to her family and friends, was an ac- complished musician, a graduate of the Toronto Conservatory of Music. Prior to her marriage, she taught music at the Ontario Ladies College, Whitby, and as a piano teacher in Port Perry for 60 years, gave a great many people in the area their early musical education. She was a piano accompanist for many choral groups and soloists and a member of the Ontario Registered Music - elect - DON 'CROSIER Scugog Township REGIONAL COUNCILLOR Teachers Association, Oshawa Branch, serving a term as its President. Mrs. Jackson was actively involy- ed in the United Church in Port Perry, serving as organist during her father's ministry, and working in the Sunday School primary divi- sion for 25 years. She served on the Music Committee of the Church for some time and was a life member of the Port Perry U.C.W. She was also a member of the [.O.D.E. and a member of the local School Board for many years. Mrs. Jackson is survived by a son, Wesley, of Scarborough, and a daughter Zula (Mrs. Howard Hall) of Port Perry and by a brother, Dr. E. Victor Elliott of London, Ontario. There are 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Her husband, Ted, predeccased her in 1975. The funeral service was con- ducted Wednesday October 2, 1985 by Rev. Glenn Jackson of Port Perry United Church and Interment took place at Pine Grove Cemetery, Prince Albert.
