Formative years farm and general store, Scugog resident forty years. Studied Public Administration part- time Ryerson past three years, cur- rent courses ending December. Reading this media literally, my deceptive negative coverage ought 'to be viewed positively. An active member in many com- munity organizations over the years, founding executive member of figure skating club, current member of Eastern Star 25 years and Celtic Interface - Attended din- ner and Bob White seminar, Royal York, compliments of Victoria and Grey, evening of "Cinderella" guests of William Davis and Mrs. Davis, reception and "The Ontario Bicentennial Dinner", Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh were present. I have survived as an individual, unmouldable to "Alice in Wonderland' in spite of attempts to have my head tied backwards. Com- petitive survival is part of our heritage. In an obligation to do what 1s right, an improved equality is bound to develop conflict. We can't operate in an illusion of a Magic formula. We must be forward looking realists not backward looking fetus, our heads buried in the sand. We must demand welcome, competence, dignity, respect and a doctrine of fairness at our Municipal hnkage for asking and hopefully answering our questions before venturing down a path I would bring new ideas and pray from a different perspective 1 look forward to the challenging journey to the Regional trough to lobby and bully for our economic pie shares I promise benevolence and ask vou to participate in a leap of Faith This 1s not a tral run and I'm cautiously optimistic you'll choose me as vour Regional and local voice Make your own choice We all sing our own song at the ballot box' STAGES OF BUILDING AN INVESTMENT PORTFOLIO with Nancy Cobban TUES., NOV. 5th 7:30 P.M. Scugog Memorial Public Library CANDIDATES FOR Regional Councillor LAWRENCE MALCOLM DON CROSIER I am a life-long resident of Scugog Township and have been involved in community affairs and organiza- tions throughout my life. During the 6 years I had the priviledge of serv- ing on Scugog Township Council; | have been a representative to Hall and Parks Boards, Blackstock and Port Perry Arena Boards; Port Perry Fair Board; the South Lake Simcoe Conservation Authority and was chairman of the Roads Com- mittee for 4 years. I am presently chairman of the Prince Albert Hall Board. With the experience gained as Ward 1 Councillor for 4 years and Area Councillor for 2 years, I now seek the position of Regional Councillor. In the past years as a member of Council, I have been interested in maintaining the community at- mosphere within the local villages and hamlets, as well as the Town of Port Perry, all of which have an im- portant part to play in the unique Township of Scugog. It is my inten- tion to be an effective liaison bet- ween Regional and Township Coun- cils and to promote good com- munications between the two coun- cils and the people of Scugog. I believe the experience gained over the past years on council and in community affairs qualifies me to respectfully ask for your support on November 12. It has been my privilege to serve in Municipal Government for 19 years. During 6 of those years | was Reeve of Cartwright and for 5 years Charter Mayor of Scugog. At various times 1 have been your representative on the Scugog Library Board, Port Perry Hospital Board, Port Perry Hydro Commis- sion, Scugog Museum Committee, Conservation Authority, Durham Regional Council, Finance and Works Committees, and Board of Health. Therefore, I am well ac- quainted with the mechanics of Municipal Government and how to control it. Both sides of an issue must be heard before a proper deci- sion can be made. As a retired dairy farmer I have now plenty of time to devote to look- ing after your interests, both on a local and Regional level. | know the capable people at every level when expertise is needed. My Platform as in the last 5 years as your Regional Councillor, is simply this -- 'no increase in taxes over which we have control." My aim is to continue looking after this Township's interests in a manner that you find satisfactory, always with fairness in mind. On this basis I respectfully ask for your support for the position of Regional Councillor on November 12, 1985. Patrick G.
