They always say 'Give a job to a busy person." But the time comes when it is impossible to do credit to double time. Two Island ladies have shared their time and talents to many Island girls when Helen Hortop taught for 9 years while her friend Ann Chandler has taught 11 or 12 years for 4-H. There must be a long list of girls who have fond memories of these two patient in- structors who first had to study each sessions course. Now they feel they must pass the honours on to someone else. So by Jan. 1 there should be two new leaders. Who would like to try it? As we drive thro' the various Preemies- meeting Have you a small one in your house" There will be a meeting of the Premature Phone Support ~~. System on Thursday. By this means we learn about the candidates with the ex- pense and the time involved to make us familiar with their desires to serve us. Then we have time to study their ability, integrity, for- mer relationships and reasons for the public service. When the election is over, it would be nice to have the signs removed again. But some don't last that long, being destroyed or removed. Some is blamed on children, some on Halloween pranks while others are removed by adults. It is natural to have opinions and form likes and dislikes but we wonder if they are playing the game fairly. A week ago, the Island United was the recipient of flowers from the funeral of a promising youth. This week the flowers were from a happier occasion, the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Preston daughter. On Wednesday evening, Nov. 13 the Stewards will meet at the Island United. The Elders are requested to be present also at this meeting. So please mark your calendars. It is important. We have recently heard that Janet (Warren) Slute who for- merly attended the Foot Island School is seriously ill in the Oshawa Hospital.
