26 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, November 5, 1985 (From page 20) prize was a lunch hour of feasting over tubs of ice cream, jelly beans, marshmallows and ying sauces. _.. Our entire class won the Colour Day contest during Spirit week in May as almost everyone par- ticipated and donned on anything pink that they could find. Definitely then, we can see that enthusiasm was a major factor in our years at P.P H.S. Through our years at high school we got to know a lot of le. Some better than others. Jt's always sad though, when Tragedy strikes and takes someone we know. So representing the letter T is TRAGEDY. Over our time at Port Perry High. we have witnessed many injuries and deaths to fellow students. | feel it is important for us to take time now and remember these people who touched our lives in some way. We, the graduating class, should especially remember Hank Stoeck and Vaughan McKee. Hank will be remembered for his bright smile and always resent sense of humour, Va n for his many hours of commitment and dedica- tion to his training for shotput and discus. Although these times are tough, we must keep looking for- ward and moving on. No matter what the situation we are going , there seems to always be someone there to help us, and that leads into the next letter. H -- HELP Thr t public, elementary, high school and now definitely beyond, there are always times when we need someone to help us. Thanks fellow grads for the help given to each other over the past 5 years. During the cramming for our exams, a test or an assignment or even during some personal ex- periences, people were there for each other. And yet as Alfred Tennyson said "So sad, so strange, the days that are no more." Therefore E stands for the word END. Tennyson really summed it up in that short verse because it does seem so strange and in some ways sad to not be at Port Perry High School. We have to remember though, that our presence physical- ly is the only thing that has ended. Our laughter, our good times and even our graffiti in the lockers, will be in this school for a long time to come. And now for the last letter R. Two words immediately popped into my mind. I'm not sure exactly why, maybe from hearing them so much ---- especially during our last year here. e first of course, Mr. Gradish, is REITERATE. The se- cond definitely, Mr. Grant, RUGBY. After much pondering over these words, 1 couldn't quite figure out how to make them into a closing challenge for us so I chose another word and it is simply -- REACH. Friends, we have spent our time here. We have gone through a lot of fun and some not so fun times. We have spent hours getting preparec to face life and the challenge il holds. And now, here we are. So now what? Reach for some goals. Reach for your dreams. We are ready, anc as a graduating class we are reaching together. Let's go for i It has been good for us to together again tonight. It has been good to have family and close riends sharing this special evening with us. I hope everyone will go Commencement Exercises 1985 from this place inspired tonight, also taking extra caution as we go our separate ways. May God bless each one of you in His special way. In closing I would like to sing a song, written especially for our gra Hating class It 'sums up our st but also challenges us for the uture. It is very fittingly entitled "TOGETHER." TOGETHER 1. Yesterda We walked through these doors ---- together There we were Learning, laughing, growing ---- together Chorus: Oh, let's not say it's over Tho' now it's true we're older For memories that we share Are present with us everywhere. 2. Toda Again we live this moment ---- together Here we are Celebrating vic'tries, together 3. Tomorrow Reaching for our dreams ---- together May we be Reaching out to people ---- together And why not say, we've just begun? And face the future all as one In spirit let us be, forever let us be In spirit let us be -- together, together. NEED PHOTOCOPIES? We can do them for you! Letter, Legal & Ledger. Reduced & Enlarged.
