The theme was carried through the hall which was decorated "cafe'"" sytle with checkered clothed tables and wine bottles with candles. For the role members were asked to relate their experience with French. The concenses seemed to be that todays' children have more con- tact with French than most of us have had. Connie Haigh, First Vice- President, presided over the meeting. Please note that there will be a Farm Workshop on November 14. (Thursday) from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the On- tario Ministry of Agricutirue Of- 16 Bascom Street, Uxbridge. The topic is Farm Safety with information on Farm First Aid. Please register in advance by phoning 852-3328. Bring your own lunch and refreshments are provided. As this is a very im- WE GOT IT? PEE art™® portant and useful workshop we urge you to attend. We would like to thank Don Cochrane for donating his fee for auctioneering our June Auction back to the Institute. Considering how hard he worked and how wet. he got (boy did it rain!) it was quite a nice gesture. The member- ship has also passed a motion to donate $50.00 to Durham Regional Handi Transit in response to their general appeal for funding. Now is a good time to talk about giving. If you would like to give of yourself for a few hours each week the Island's 4H members need new instructors. Ann Chandler and Helen Hortop, who have given many years service to 4-H have decided it is time for a rest. There is so much enjoyment to be gained in helping teach these young people new skills. If you are in- terested please contact Ann (985- 2940) or Helen Hortop (985-3451). The next session begins in January. Please note that from now on all groups will be responsible for con- diments (coffee, tea, sugar, napkins and the like) for '""Tea" on meeting nights. This will reduce confusion for everyone involved. Following our business meeting we had a vigorous work-out with a lively lesson in French that really was FUN. Those children's action songs in French (or any language) certainly woke us up. Our next meeting is November 20th at 8:00 p.m. at the Scugog Island Hall and we would love to see you there! ye - DELCO FREEDOM II BATTERY WITH THE GUARANTEED SERVE "LIVEEYE" GUARANTEED PRICE GET IT AND FORGET IT! A sure sign that fall is nearly over is the smell of burning leaves on a quiet street in this community as the gentle rays of the late afternoon sun cut through the clouds of smoke.
