Le a EE -- a a A Ae HAA Er rts Pd i ET Er ---- as RIE I RAY, COLIN MRA v Raw milk price is hiked for Ontario farmers The Ontario Milk Marketing Board announced January 2 that the price paid to Ontario dairy farmers for the portion of raw milk they pro- duce for table use (fluid milk) will not be increased over the next several months. The Board made the announce- ment because there has been some speculation regarding what was happening with milk prices. The last producers price increase was in December 1984 The Board sets the fluid milk price to producers using an economic formula as a guide. Board Chairman, Ken, McKinnon, noted that lower feed costs and stabilized interest rates are two of the major factors helping to maintain farm costs at current levels. The Board will continue to monitor on-farm costs during 1986 but is hopeful that a producer in- crease will not be necessary for several months. The current farm price for fluid raw milk in Southern Ontario is 52.51 cents per litre; in Northern Ontario 53.80 cents per litre; and in the Kenora-Rainy River area 55.80 cents per litre. Knitting needed by all members On Monday, December 9, 1985 the - Port Perry Hospital Auxiliary held their meeting. The President, Mary Cannon, opened the meeting with all repeating the Auxiliary prayer in unison and then thanked all for their help and co-operation in making 1985 a very successful year. The minutes of the last meeting were read by the Secretary and ap- proved. All other reports were then - given, and 'Thanks' to all those who had sent in any knitted articles. ~ Anyone who would care to do any knitting, just get in touch with Mary Cannon - phone 985-7137. She would be glad to give you information. It would be much appreciated as we are in need of many different ar- ticles at this time. Mr. Brown was with us and thénk- ed us again for our cheque of $11,888 in payment of the Baby Bassinette Resuscitater used in the Maternity area. He also wished the Auxiliary a Happy and prosperous New Year. Our Book Sale and Gift Shop sale was very successful and we do -thank all those who helped make it so. Also we thank Brock's and Port Gifts for having the dolls displayed in their stores. The President then closed the meeting. Followed by the doll draw, of which some of our local ladies were lucky. This draw was a very worthwhile effort. A very delicious Christmas lunch was then served by Ilean Pugh and Elaine Buchannon, and a Happy Holiday wished to all. The Hospital Auxiliary wish to everyone a very happy, healthy year in 1986. Our next meeting will be held on January 20, 1986. Hope to see you all then.
