18 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, February 4, 1986 GUS MILLER Gus is another newcomer to the Borelians although he has extensive theatre experience to his credit. His interest goes back many years to his high school days when he was in: volved in the Gilbert and Sullivan production "The Gondoliers.'"' One visit to New York and Broadway following that and he was hooked, becoming an avid viewer of theatre ever since. For the past twelve years, his in- terest has also involved being ac- tively involved himself. He has been an active member of both Oshawa Little Theatre, and Ajax Lyric Theatre. He has played in "Camelot", and 'Guys and Dolls" with OLT, and "Pyjama Game", and "Girl Crazy" with the Ajax group. Backstage activities have also held an interest for Gus, and he" has helped both with set construc- tion, and lighting on numerous oc- casions. Being a pharmacist by pro- fession, he finds that some of the backstage work can be less time consuming and allow him to con- tinue his direct involvement while keeping up with his profession. Gus enjoys theatre because of the . challenge and the opportunity to meet people. He finds it both a creative outlet, and a social oppor- tunity. He enjoys the lighting aspect Farmers enjoy Toronto because he feels that it is very im- portant to each production's suc- cess. Gus will be working on the lighting for '"The Murder Room", so when the lights go out (they always go out in a murder-mystery-farce) we know that he will have something to do with it. Don't be left in the dark, come in- to '"The Murder Room' and discover the mystery for yourself. VIVIAN LEE Although Vivian has been a Borelian for several years, she. came to us with a considerable amount of experience from other choral and theatre groups. While growing up in Winnipeg, she took voice lessons, sang in the church choir, and played Josephine in her high school's "H.M.S. Pinafore'. After moving to the "east," she join- ed the Choral Society and had several roles in "The Merry Widow", "Vagabond King", and "Kiss Me Kate." Then, after a turn with Herringate in "Who Done It", she played Maria in OLT's "The Sound of Music." Gradually moving closer, she played two dramatic roles with Ux- bridge Players ("Eat Your Heart Out", and "Gingerbread Lady"). Since joining the Borelians, her roles have been equally important but have all been off the stage. She Epsom and Area News by Jean Jeffery Several of the area farmers and their wives enjoyed a day at the Farm Show in Toronto last Thursday. Working with the peo- ple is one of the benefits, and she also enjoys the creative energy of a drama group. Most of all, it {s the audience response, she states, that makes all the preparation worth , while. What will be the audience response to "The Murder Room'? She thinks they'll be dying to get in. DINNER THEATRE Dinner Theatre has been a stan- dard for the Borelians productions ever since the Mexican meal before "Mixed Doubles." This production will follow the same format with both the Saturday night plays being preceeded by an English meal pro- vided by Al's Catering, of roast beef ° with gravy, Yorkshire pudding, and raspberry y trifle for dessert. In spite of 'the comforting thought of this traditional fare, the Borelians still recommend that you not attend this play alone...take a friend!
