High Single with Handicap: Kevin Petite C's romp to 9-1 victory After more than a week without the blades on, the Petite C's travell- .ed to Bobcaygeon on January 29 to ~ test their skills. We hoped that the energy and enthusiasm shown dur- ing pre-game cheer would continue throughout the game. We weren't disappointed. Michelle Fitzpatrick started the . scoring early in the first period and continued to play a strong game throughout. She had five goals to her credit by the final buzzer with assists on two of these from Leea Kinnunen and Sara Wanamaker. Valerie Payne popped two past the Bobcaygeon goalie, assisted on one by Vicki Stainton. Angela Wierz- bicki worked hard and claimed one goal - assisted by Vicki Stainton. Amanda Webb counted one on the scoreboard with the assist going to " Angela Wierzbicki. Bobcaygeon on- ly managed to slip one shot past our hot goalie, Sarah Coyne. Final score 9-1 for Port Perry. Great game girls, we knew you could do it! Let no one say ringette players aren't dedicated! Through the bliz- zard of Saturday, February 1, we travelled to Ops Arena to play the Lindsay Petite C's. Having met these girls before, we knew we had our work cut out for us and we weren't disappointed. The girls skated a strong game and had many shots on net but were faced with a goalie who seemed to be able to stop anything passed in her direction. With more players, the Lindsay team was able to change lines often thus having well rested players on the ice. Port Perry tried hard but this time came out on the low end of the score with Lindsay claiming a 7-2 victory. Michelle Fitzpatrick flipped in our two goals assisted by Valerie Payne and Leea Kinnunen. Keep trying girls, there's better days ahead. RENT A NEW PONTIAC " ECONOMY LJ STANDARD /FULL SIZE . The Port Perry team won their first game but dropped the next two to eliminate them from the competition. I'd like to clarify one point, one of the two Intermediate teams that played in Unionville on January 24 was in fact skipped by Garnet Warriner, vice Ralph Fairman, second Roy Corden and lead Ted Griffen. The Colt Club Level Playdown - B side final Robin Parish defeated Ralph Fairman. The Zone Level for Colts is being held in Newmarket from Feb. 14-16. The Labatt Tankard Ontario Finals start today (Tuesday) in Richmond Hill at the Elgin Arena. Two teams from Port Perry travelled to Quebec City last week for the annual mens bonspiel. Both: teams did well making it past the qualifying games and curled on in- to the weekend. Team members in- clude lan Griffen, Paul Griffen, Randy Scott, Steve Mowat, Ted Griffen, Jack Griffen, Bill Cornish, Jim Baird, Ivan Parkinson and Wilf Pascoe. This Sat. Feb. 8 is the Bill Beare Mixed Bonspiel at the Curling Club. According to an incident reported in another publication a curling clubs refrigeration plant broke down. The clubs icemaker was unable to solve the problem so an expert was called in. This expert us- ing a small hammer, taped an in- tricate part of the machine and had the plant running smoothly again. The expert then submitted his bill - for $350. The outraged club demand- ed an itemized bill for this small task. The expert returned the follow- ing: Hammer Tap - $1.; Knowing Where to Tap - $349.
