Well, we had a reprieve from the steady snow and cold but then so many sad things happened. The flu bug and other illnesses kept us mov- ing on. So, this is Feb. with more daylight and sunshine, the month of hearts and love. Therefore, w. are remind- ed of the canvassers who will call at your door for a donation toward the Heart and Stroke Foundation. At some time, nearly every family has some experience with the silent diseases that lead up to these results. On the Island Mrs. Margaret Crees of Fralick's Beach is heading 'up the Island drive with Mrs. Linda Parry at the "Head" area. It is hoped willing canvassers have been found for all the Island roads. So you will have time to think about it. In this way we can show our love for others. The "Head" UCW will meet this Wed. evening at the home of Mrs. .Clara Dowson. But the "Grace" UCW will meet one day earlier on Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 at the home of Ann Wardlaw. Sun. afternoon turned out to be a beautiful afternoon for the Annual Skating party for the Sunday School and families of the Island United. Next Sunday morning Feb. 9 don't forget the annual Pancake Breakfast at the Island United at 8:3) a.m. Donations will be accepted to help cover the cost. Wed. morning of this week 10-11:30 it's time for Coffee Hour again when we welcome back Dr. Gordon Lawson (chiroprac- tor/nutritionist). There will be a special musical treat. If you have longed to go to Greece but couldn't afford it, now is your chance to see it and the s Islands, as seen by Beth and Allen Martyn. All you have to do is attend the Pot Luck supper at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 14 at the Island United. After enjoying a sumptuous meal, sit back and take a trip to Greece. As a young parent, do you have strong willed children who test your ability to cope? Perhaps you would like advice and extra knowledge. Here is your chance starting Fri. evening at 7:30 p.m. and every Fri. for 4 weeks at the Christian Reform Church when Mr. Dobson who is trained in this area, will lead discus- sion and give guidance. Our new President, Mrs. Oram Moore, was in the chair. Ernestine Robinson had the Devo- tional and took "commitment" as her topic. She read Psalm 37 and some from the 3rd and 16 chapters of St. John. At the beginning of the 'year we should reaccess our priorities and decide to be a better wife or mother or babysitter and learn to do something for the pover- ty stricken in our own land as well as global. Mindy Robinson read a poem "Little Things." Ernestine then presented an illustration of how when we shop it should be with care. Some of the things we need to pick up are patience, understanding, faith, strength, grace, salvation, prayer and praise. She led in prayer and the Lord's prayer.
