Herb Vine has been doing a lot of grinning these days since the release of his first music cassette, a countrified collection of tunes called Time Goes On. See story for details. Working at General Motors, Herb Vine hears a lot of Q107's heavy rock 'n roll blasting away all day long. It's something he's grown used to, * but it's not the 32 year old Néstleton resident's favourite kind of music. Herb is a country buff, pure and" simple, and these days no country music is sounding sweeter than his own. The shy, softspoken man has just released a cassette tape of his own called "Time Goes On", featuring 10 songs, two of which are his own com- positions: As Time Goes On, the ti- tle track, and the haunting Lights of Nashville. Cutting the album, he says, was easy, but "selling it is the big thing." Already the tape is available in Oshawa and at Irwin Smith Music in Port Perry. Herb does all the vocals on the tape but he leaves the music to Shotgun, a popular bar band well known in the Oshawa area. Neil Mattice played rhythm and lead guitar; Rusty Walker played steel guitar; Brian Twaites played bass; Steve Woodhead played piano and special effects, while Frank Wood- cock, not a member of Shotgun, played drums. The tape was record- ed in Oshawa by Ambassador Records. While Herb didn't play on the tape, relying on his rich, strong voice, he does play guitar when h Nl his .
