Nobody knows quite what's been' * going on behind the walls of the old building on Queen Street. And those who do know aren't talking very much. Efforts by the Star to find out last Sunday met with stoney silence. What we can tell you for certain, however, is that the Borelians have been hard at work rehearsing for "The Murder Room." And the curtain of silence and secrecy will go up for theatre buffs this coming Friday night (Feb. 21) at 8:00 p.m. Producer Vivian Lee, in an inter- view with the Star during rehearsals last Sunday afternoon, flatly declin- ed to reveal anything about the up- coming play. "Sorry, I'm not going to say a word." But she did tell the Star that '*The Murder Room" is a comedy farce set in the living room of an eccéntric British gentleman. As for those who attend one of the five up-coming performances, Ms. Lee stated there is a good chance "they'll die laughing." '"The Murder Room' (people are just dying to get in) is directed by Carol MacNeil Borelians Who's Who GORD LEE Gord has been a member of the Borelians for several years now. He has been very active backstage but some of you will remember him from his role as Archie in 'Birdseye Centre." Gord began his association by designing and building the set for "The Hand That Cradles The Rock."" Following this he was elected to the Borelians board for two years. He has also worked with the Choral Society, having helped build the set for "Showboat." | As opposed to many of our members, Gord's interest did not start early in his life. In high school, he was far more interested in sports pursuits -- particularly in basket- ball and track -- than in anything dramatic. He was, however, part owner of Herongate Theatre for a while, where he met his wife Vivian. Although not as totally addicted as some, Gord thoroughly enjoys atten- ding theatre, and likes all kinds of plays from comedy to drama. For "The Murder Room" (open- ing February 21) Gord is in charge of designing and building the set. Dave Ellis and the cast includes several veterans of the Borelians stage. DAVID ELLIS David's extensive background has been outlined earlier prior to his role in "The Little Prince." He is cur- rently directing "The Murder Room' to open February 21st at the Town Hall 1873. Anyone who remembers 'Deathtrap' which was also directed by David will be aware of the quality of performance which they can expect. CHRIS ROLLO Chris brought her daughters out to the auditions for "The Little Prince," was given a part herself and has been busy with the Borelians ever since. Her past ex- perience has also been subject to a previous article, but the "The Murder Room" she is doing the challenging job as stage manager.
