These centres provide many home-support services, such as housekeeping, meals-on-wheels, and crafts to help the elderly manage on their own. The Ministry of Community and Social Services ruris the Seniors in Volunteer Service program which encourages the elderly to provide advice and help to each other in meeting the demands of daily life. For example, this program, retired accountants can help other seniors fill out their income tax form. The Province also provides advice on how to organize neighbourhood clubs for seniors. Some organiza- tions have set up their own self-help . groups, along the lines of Seniors in Volunteer Service, as well as put _ together social events. A wide range of courses are available to seniors through our high schools, colleges and univer- sities at reduced fees, or without charge. The Senior's Guide will ex- plain how you can get involved with these programs. The Guide also explains how you can take advantage of home care programs, and nursing programs that will provide professional care right in the home. I recommend this guide to seniors, and the family of a senior citizen.
