Friday, February 28th is stuffed animal day at Port Perry High and prizes will be awarded for different categories. So bring your stuffed animals to school and show them off on Friday February 28th. Spring is right around the corner and with spring comes the annual formal dance - "The At-Home". Meetings are usually every Tuesday to Thursday after school. Come out and help at the At-Home meetings, and make this year the best At-. Whether you're off to Flordia, ski- ing in Quebec, or travelling to Mex- With minor accidents on Shirley Road It was a busy week for Durham Regional Police as officers found themselves investigating a series of motor vehicle accidents across the township. On February 19th a local coun- cillor was involved in a minor colli- sion on Shirley Road causing $6,000 damage. Police say Councillor Harvey - Graham pulled out of his driveway onto Shirley Road when his car stall- ed. A vehicle drive by Stephanie Creighton of Sunrise Dr., Blackstock, was headed westbound on the road at the moment the Graham vehicle stalled, and collid- ed into him. No one was injured and no one was charged. On the next day, February 20th, firefighters were called to Shirley ~ Road to release a nine year old boy trapped in his mother's car follow- ing a single vehicle accident. Susan Swain of Blackstock was travelling westbound with her son Kirk in a 1982 Buick when the car skidded on the ice-covered road and slammed into a hydro pole in the south ditch. Lucki- ly, the boys suffered only minor injuries. The car sustained $6,000 damage. No charges were laid. Shirley Road was the scene of yet another accident on February 21st, when an Oshawa driver lost control on the slippery road surface and hit a pole. Driver Shelley McGrath escaped injury. Property damage was estimated at $3,500. No charges were laid. Two more accidents happened on the same day, both minor. Norman Childs of Scugog Township reported damage to his vehicle when it was struck at 6:30 a.m. by another vehi- cle on Regional Road 8. Mike Relf of Kenny Court called police when his vehicle was sideswiped at 11:30 in the Seagrave area. On February 20th, police were called when a vehicle driven by Chris Nicolaou rolled over into a ditch on Durham Road 7 south of the 12th. The vehicle was headed south- bound on Road 7 when the rollover occurred, causing an estimated $3,000 damage. And on the same day, a snowmobiler suffered minor in- juries when his machine collided with a parked van. Police say Daniel Vernon of Blackstock was driving his snowmobile eastbound along the shoulder of Regional Road 57 near Caesarea when a ski broke, sending the machine into a van parked on a nearby property. Mr. Vernon was thrown from the snowmobile and an estimated $1,000 damage was caused. No charges were laid. ico, have a safe, terrific holiday.
