With the explosion of nutritional knowledge in the past fifty years has come an equal degree of popular misinformation, particularly about the role of nutrition in health and disease. Any diet that tells us how to lose weight, avoid cancer or live longer finds its way into print. It becomes more important for each of us to become responsible to select, in our living, food, exercise and msuic to raise our standard of health. Global communication has brought many diverse systems of health care to our awareness. As responsible individuals, we must become better informed, in order to make intelligent selections from these alternate methods. Miller, presen- ting information on 'Diet and Cancer." Dr. Miller is Director of the Epidemology Unit of the National Cancer Institute. He will give an in- sight into the effect diet may have on cancer. It has been estimated that between 10 and 70 per cent of all cancers are attributable to diet and nutrition, with the most likely pro- portion being of the order of 35 per cent. Dr. Miller is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada: a fellow of the Faculty of Communi- ty Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians in the United Kingdom; and a Professor in the Department of Preventive Medicine and Biostatistics at the University of Toronto.
