Our president, Clara Warren, opened the meeting by reading an inspirational and thought-provoking poem, which I hope, we all took to heart! The roll call was "Name a subject you would like to see taught in the schools" was answered in a varie- ty of ways. Besides the three 'R's' respect for one's elders, and for other people's property should be emphasized more, although, it was agreed, this eaching should begin in the home! Following the reading of the minutes, and financial report, Jean Carnochan gave an excellent report from the District meeting held Obituary Blanche Mae Tresch (Frise) R.N. Blanche Mae (Frise) Tresch R.N., daughter of the late Wesley and Mrs. Alma Frise of Seagrave, Ontario passed away Wednesday January 22, 1986 at Toronto, Ontario. Bea Tresch, beloved wife of the late Henry Tresch, loving mother of Wesley of New Jersy, and the late Gloria Hillerson. Also loved by 8 grandchildren and 7 great grand- children, dear sister of Alma and the late Ethel and Elgin. Blanche Tresch was born in Mariposa Township and spent most of her young life at Seagrave. She graduated as a R.N. in 1922 and married the late Henry Tresch of Mt. Holly, New Jersy in 1923, where she spend most of her adult life. The last four years were spent at Toronto with sister Alma. She will be remembered by relatives and friends as a sweet, kind and pas- sionate person. A funeral service was held from the Lee Funeral Home, Mt. Holly New Jersy, U.S.A. Monday, January 27, 1986 at 2 p.m. Interment Mt. Holly Cemetery. recently in Brooklin. The 90th an- niversary of F.W.1.0. is to be celebrated in 1987 with special events being planned. The annual convention will be October 28 and 29 at the Royal York Hotel. The District Annual is to be held in Stouffville United Church on May . 20th. There was some discussion regar- ding a bus trip during the summer with plans to be made for that. It was decided to enter a display at the Port Perry Fair on Labour Day weekend. The nominating committee was successful in filling the offices and naming conveners for the next year. Mary Pickard and her group were in charge of the program. The Mot- to "Rest not Beneath the tree of knowledge -- climb it,"" was ably taken by Jean Carnochan, who stressed the importance of diligence in the pursuit of furthering educa- tion. Helen MacMaster contributed two worthwhile readings pertaining to the motto, all of which added up to a most interesting meeting! Dorothy Naples gave a history of the origin of candlewick- ing, also a demonstration of this craft to several members who had been unable to attend the workshop earlier this year. After singing 'O Canada,' and the Institute Grace, we enjoyed a love- ly lunch served by the group in charge. Wellness workshops planned for women April 15 Who is in Charge of my Health? Speaker Karen Walker. Karen is planning on presenting a historical perspective on women and health. Dialogue and small group discus- sion on contemporary and current health issues will be followed by a wrap-up exercise to validate, rein- force and support the women present. Karen is the Patients' Advocacy Agent at Whitby Psychiatric Hospital.
