Port Perry Printing are the Novice House League champs, but it took two games to decide the issue. The Printers and Forders tied 3-3 in the first, then in a second game, the score was 3-2 in this close and exciting match-up. PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, April 8, 1986 -- 27 House League championships NOVICE Port Perry Printing - 3 Don Forders Ins. - 3 Don Forders got on the scoreboard first with a goal from Mike Pashley unassisted, then Tom Durward tied it up with a goal from the Muskies at the end of the first. With 3 minutes to play int he first Forders' Steve Gilbert, the goalie, had to leave the game with an injury to his right shoulder. Mike Nichols went in net to finish the game. Halfway through the se- cond, Jeff Griffin, scored assisted by Brent Giles and Tom Durward on a nice passing play. Then Muskies went up by two goals when Jason Philips let a wrist shot go that found the mark. Jeff Griffin picked up the assist. Forders down by two, came roar- ing back in the third when Mike Pashley scored on a difficult angle then with 5 minutes to play, Mike Pashley scored again to end the game in a tie which meant a deciding game had to be played at 4 p.m. Port Perry Printing - 3 Don Forders Ins. - 2 Port Perry Printing's, Jeremy Geer, scored first assisted by Tom Durward. Mike Pashley replied for Forders unassisted then Mike Pashley scored again assisted by Matt Hobbs to put Forders up by one. - Muskies Sean Gawley tied it up assisted by Jeremy Geer. With a minute and 5 seconds to go, Sean Gawley scored the game winner to make the Port Perry Printing Muskies the Novice Champions. ATOM Swamp - 0 Tripp -§ The Tripp Realty team took possession of the puck thirteen minutes into the first period with a goal by Mark Cosway unassisted and never looked back, blanking the Swamp squad 50. Hard work and team play brought the Swampers to the final game but on this day Tripp was the better team. Congratula- tions to both teams and their coaching staff for an exciting, fast, well played game. Scugog - § Lions - ¢ Scugog eliminated the Lions from the playoff hunt with a cliff-handing 5-4 win on a goal scored with only § seconds left in the game. Scoring for Scugog was Jeremy Woodcock with 5 goals and Mike Pugh with one assist. Scoring for Lions was Chad Brown with two goals and Mike Olaisen 1 goal and 1 assist. Ex- cellent goaltending by Lion's Steven Stiles and Scugog's Mike Payne. UAW -§ Swamp - 6 David Pashley scored his 4th goal of the game with 3 seconds remain- ing to break a 5-5 deadlock and send Swamp into the finals against Tripp. After a "80-80"' regular schedule the Swamp squad have come on strong in the playoffs. Swamp's other scorers were: Mike Williams with a strong two goal, three assist effort: Todd Smart with an assist; and Chad Venning an assist. UAW's snipers were Jeff Kemp, Andy Wilson, Paul Bycock, and Chris MacLeod with two goals. PEE WEE Saturday April 5 saw the Pee Wee House League season come to a close with possibly the most thrill- ing and hard fought game of the year, Larocque Electric faced Frank Realty and both teams came out determined to win. The first period was a see-saw battle that ended with the scoreboard showing all zeros.
