Lions celebrate 5th birthday Blackstock and Area News by Joyce Kelly Congratulations to the Blackstock and District Lions' Club which celebrated its fifth anniversary on Saturday evening at the Recreation Centre. Over eighty members, friends and guests enjoyed a delicious roast beef dinner. After dinner visiting dignitaries and past presidents brought congratulatory greetings on this very special occa- sion. Attendance pins were presented to many of the members who achieved excellent attendance "CAESAREA FISH & CHIPS throughout the year. Three new ap- plicants Gerry Gerrits, Craig Har- rison and John jez were in- ducted into full membership. The remainder of the evening was spent in dancing and enjoying a social time. Best wishes are extended to this fine Club for continued success in the years ahead. One of Blackstock's grand ladies, Mrs. Alma Taylor, passed away suddenly on Friday. Mrs. Taylor who was in her 89th year lived all sour, or barbeque. Improved health is wished for these residents and any others who are not well. This coming weekend on Saturday and Sypday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Vi County Studio Tour '86 will take place with 21 artists part. Of interest to the local residents is the Paula Lishman's studio and Ed and Anne Emerson's Studio are two of the studios being in the tour, so if you wish to visit these local artists or any of the others, this is an excellent oppor- tunity. Admission is free. Brochures are available for information on any of the 21 studios. On April 17 at 7:30 a drama is be- ing presented by grades 5 and 6 at C.C.P.S. This production entitled The Canada Goose has had hours of preparation by teachers, Mrs. Snowden, Miss Summers, Mrs. Hoyle and Mrs. Elliott as well as members of the cast. Tickets are available from members of the cast and also at the door. Susan Kyte made an excellent presentation of her Speech at the re- cent zone Lions Speaking Contest at the Deer Park Inn, Stouffville and received Honourable Mention. Con- gratulations to Susan for doing so well. A large number of visitors attend- ed Theresia Berry's Open House on Saturday and Sunday when she displayed her beautifully decorated wedding cakes. Theresia is a relative new-comer to this fine art and has accomplished amazing heights of success in her short time. Congratulations and best wishes to you in this new endeavour.
