Church Hall, Port Perry. Special features will be many handmade items ... as well as demonstrations - a sale table - and the members will be working on a Clown Crib Quilt. Annual Meeting Nestleton Branch met April 9, 1:30 p.m. in the Nestleton Community Centre with president, Norma rrew, extenaing a warm welcome opening with the Ode and Mary Steward Collect followed by a poem, "Live for the day only." The Roll Call was answered by the payment of dues. Sec'y-Treas. Marg France read the minutes, correspondence and presented the financial report. Mrs. Winnifred Davison gave a report of the District Executive meeting on March 18, re the plann- ing of the District Annual to be held at Hampton, May 14. The District President, Mrs. H. hosted the meeting. A letter was read from the Port Perry Hospital Auxiliary re + -. help with the Spring Fair to be held "April 28 in the Latcham Centre. Encouraging reports were given by conveners and public relations officer indicating an excellent year. Mrs. W. Davison presided for the - election of officers for 1986-87 and «Mrs. M. France acted as Secretary. - The President, Norma Frew, read a poem, 'Blessed be the leader," and thanked all for helping during her term of office as President. Blue Ray Hosts Large Attendance With an excellent number on hand to enjoy the evening .. W.M. Marguerite Mitchell assisted by W.P. Chris Dennis extended a warm, fraternal welcome to many valued friends ... sisters and brothers from neighbouring Chapters .. as well as Blue Ray of- ficers and members. After the Flag was presented by Marshal Debbie Davis with a lively rendition of The Maple Leaf played on the organ by Carol Morrow ... many dignitaries were welcome! It was a pleasure to greet Brian Lee, Past Grand Patron of Ontario, and wife Jean Lee, of the Florence Nightingale Home Board committee, District Deputy Grand Matron Audrey De Beaupre, Past District Deputy Grand Matrons Bessie Cosway, Audrey Martin and . Erline Finnie from District No.II. On their special night a good many past matrons and past patrons were present and after receiving a cordial welcome were the recipients of a lit- tle gift from the W.M. Marguerite. During the business the Benevolent convener Elsie Wilbur reported Easter plants were delivered to the sick and shut-ins. Marg. Cornish gave a brief resume of the sick and sunshine for Port Perry. Very pleased to know all are progressing well. Sympathy is ex- tended to Marjorie Edwards re the loss of a fine daughter Pam Knight, just recently. Also...to the Ira Carr family...as Mr. and Mrs. Carr Sr. have passed away. A donation was voted to the work of the Cancer Society. An honour was bestowed upon our Warder Pauline Pavlik by our D.D. G.M. Audrey Pauline has been given the honour of being a Grand Page at the Grand Chapter this fall. We offer our congratulations and we know Pauline will enjoly her duties and learn a great deal about the work as well. Before Chapter clos- ed our District Deputy Audrey spoke briefly - also Brian Lee, Past Grand and W.P. Terry Smith. Lovely refreshments were served buffet style by convener Lee Heath, Doris Evans, Ruby Smith, Olive Or- miston and Ethel Nottingham. A fine evening for Blue Ray! Euchre Party At the popular game of cards held each Wed. night in the Caesarea Centre the following winners are to be congratulated. First-Paul Krawets-79. Second-Eva MacDonald-76. Low score-Ann Harran-51. A good attendance and a nice social time enjoyed over the refreshments. Next week again for a great evening! Cancer Drive In Progress The door to door canvass for funds for Cancer Research is in in Cartwright with Captain Pat Sleep in charge of same. She has some 70 volunteers canvassing and hopes it will be a successful cam- paign. Give what you can when the volunteer calls at your door. We -- in this area of t do warm- ly appreciate the courteous, friend- ly reception received from the donors -- and the concern of those who give so generougly to the cause. Our sincere thanks. The minister Rev. Dale Davis presented an interesting message dealing with his chosen topic "By What Authority?" with Verna Windrem assisting throughout the service. A ladies quartet sang, 'Because He Lives" an old favourite for this time of the year. Gwen Malcolm accompanied on the organ. A Bible Stand, beautifully made, was dedicated in memory of Grahame Fish ...a valued member of Nestleton Church. His son Bruce Fish of Oshawa, presented the gift on behalf of the family. Many members of the family were present for the occasion. Hymn books from the evening UCW with the large print..were dedicated in memory of Grahame as well...presented by Janice MacKenzie. Lovely flowers adorned the Sanctuary, placed by wife Neta in memory of husband Grahame. An impressive dedicated service! As this was Verna Windrem's last Sunday with us we bid her a sad farewell and extend heartfelt thanks to her...a wonderful friend...and trust she will do well in her chosen work and come back to see us when she can. At the close of the service Clerk of Session Lawrence Malcolm made a presentation of a Bible Dic- tionary to Verna from the Pastoral Charge and voiced appreciation to her for all her help in so many ways on behalf of the Nestleton congrega- tion. Verna - in turn presented a gift to Nestleton Church ..three silver Communion servers. Downstairs the S. School sang a little number especially for Verna and gave her a Praying Hands Pin. Will we ever miss our Verna! . Guests with Neta Fish on Sunday and many attending the In Memoriam Service in Nestleton United Church for Grahame Fish were: Peter and Doreen Fish, Doug Fish and friend Marion Short and Heather Munroe, Sonya, Bruce and Elaine Fish, Lisa and Laura of Oshawa, Audrey Leishman, Jamie, Michael and William from Rear- boro, Calvin and Yvonne Holland, Chad, Craig and Alanna Dawn of Bowmanville and Marlene Ban- nister and Vicki from Peterborough, and Paul Vaneyk of Lotus. Nestleton Presbyterian Church A good service on Sunday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Fred Swann reading Isaish 53 and from the 'Living Faith" called God -- Creator and Ruler. He continued with the study "of Corinthians Chapter 5, entitled "Purity Among Believers." An ex- cellent S. School under the leader- ship of Dorothy Lee. Mrs. S. Scott - organist. Get Well Very best wishes to a good friend Stanley Malcolm who has been in Port Perry Community Hospital for three weeks now ... our thoughts and prayers are with him, from this area. Sympathy Sincere sympathy to the Taylor family of Blackstock re the loss of Mrs. Alma Taylor during the past week. She has been a fine member of the community for a good many years. Alma will be missed by fami- ly and friends. Lorne Duff was honoured as the branch's last Old Bill during Old Bill's Night at the Legion on Saturday night. Actually, this year's annual dinner was called Old and Young Bills Night with. veterans of World War 11 invited as well. With Mr. Duff is Chairman Jack Lee and President Bob Archer.
