The sympathy of the community is extended to Mr. Paul Diamond on Obituary-- After a long and active lifetime, Herman Kerry passed away April 23, 1986 in the Community Nursing Home. George Herman Kerry was born in Udora, December 21, 1898, the son of George and Martha Kerry. He liv- ed at Fairview Farm near Epsom for over 70 years. He married Edna Ashton of Ashburn June 16, 1926 and they had three sons, Raymond of Greenbank, Walter of Epsom and Arnold of Utica. Herman was well known at all the local fall fairs during the years in which he showed horses and later as Crystal Lake. After attending a lovely dedica- 'tion service in memory of Barbara Phair and Lillian Smith at Scugog Shores Historical Museum on May 18, Aileen Dobson and her nephew Stewart Reynolds, visiting from New York City, Brian and Janice he judged horse classes across the province. He was a member of Zeredatha Masonic Lodge in Uxbridge for over 40 years. He also served his com- munity as a longstanding member of the Epsom United Church Board, and the Utica and Breadalbane Cemetery Boards. Mr. Kerry was named an Honorary Director of the Port Perry Agricultural Society for over forty years of service to Port Perry Fair. On Wednesday evening 11 members and 5 visitors attended Lhe May meeting of the Womens In- stitute, at the home of Shirley Lee. Professor Rae Godfrey of Toronto was guest speaker. Her subject was 'Education and gave a very in- teresting talk on the ways of educating not only children but adults as well. George Herman Kerry He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Harold and Norman and 3 sisters, Stella Millman, Alma Prentice and Cora Howsam. He is survived by his wife, his family and one sister, Olive McMillan of Green- bank. He is fondly remembered by seven grandchildren and one great grandson. Pallbearers were his grandsons, Grant, Paul, Mark, Glen and Brian Kerry and friend Charlie Cottyn. The many callers at the Wagg Funeral Chapel and the lovely floral tributes and many memorial gifts attested to the high esteem in which Mr. Kerry was held. Interment was at Kendal Cemetery, Utica. Following the service, St. John's Presbyterian Ladies graciously served lunch in the church hall. Charlie's in fown! Sunderland Town Park will be the centre of action on June 1st when the Sunderland Business Association presents A Touch of Scotland for the second year. Rain or shine be sure to bring your deck chairs and enjoy. Charlie Farquharson will be there to add his views on the Scots. Anyone ever reading "Charlie Far- quharson's Histry of Canada' will know that this should be a memorable monologue. So bring your sense of humour with you and sit back and laugh. Don Harron was born in Toronto and educated at the University of Toronto. His career is varied and in- cludes radio, theatre from Broad- way to London and many Shakespearian Festivals as well as motion pictures. He is a busy writer as well as director and in 1952 at the 'Spring Thaw' revue Charlie Farquharson was born. Since then he has brought life and fun to audiences everywhere. Don't forget the added attraction this year in the Beef Bar-B-Que. This is under the direction of the Sunderland Lions and will certain- ly be an added pleasure to the day of pipes and drums, dancers and choirs.
