When all the votes were tallied on "Saturday evening, the overall win- ner was Sexy Farmer Ear] Martyn with an astounding 202, 940 votes. At a penny a vote that means Mr. Mar- tyn raised $2,029.40 for the Kidney Foundation. Mr. Martyn was presented with a deluxe weekend for two in Niagara Falls. This study, which will receive 50% Wintario funding and is to begin immediately, will include an assessment of the arenas, fair boards needs and banquet facilities. The following PUBLIC MEETINGS have been planned in order to explain the nature of the study to the residents of Scugog and to outline the procedures that will be available for individual citizens and special interest groups to express their respective needs and priorities regarding culture and recreation and its future development within the Township. The Kidney Foundation is the Sexiest of all "The community's The competition was strong and fierce but Carol Smith raised a whopping $1,010 for the Scugog "Chamber of Commerce and was named the Sexiest Woman in the township! Winners were named Saturday evening at the lakefront in front of a large, enthusiastic crowd that . cheered each category winner as she climbed the Rotary bandshell to accept her prize. More than 40 local women took part in the contest, raising approx- imately $7,000 in all to be used by the Chamber to pay for activities such as Festival Days, the Santa Claus Parade, Canada Day fireworks, Christmas lights and various other causes. Organizers Terry Fox and Linda Grills were thrilled with the results of the contest, the first one of its kind in this area. Chamber President Peter Hvidsten said he was amazed at the amount of money raised. "I had thought it might raise $3,000 at the most," he said. Overall winner Carol Smith was nominated in the Sexy Mother category, along with Debbie Jones, who raised $175.44, Carol Wilson, $105.00, Lori Geer, $55.00, Anna Van Denberg, $119.10, Tammy Town- send, $7.00, Bev Silverman, $12.00, and Janice St. John, $43.50. The other big category was Sexy Single, 'won by Cathy Robb w:th $478.25. Her competitors included Marie Wilson, $283.50, Tanaya Red- man, $57.00, Michele Valentino, $168.55, Teresa Grieve, $72.00, Mar- sha Whitehouse, $441.00, Tammy Arnold, $56.76, and Wend Harvie, $7.00. The Sexy Volunteer category was won by Louise Hartney with $167.43. The Sexy Student race was a close one, but Jodi Luke managed to come out on top with $252.78. Sandra Liston raised $48.50, Angela Benns $163.60, Anna-Marie Nicol, $121.09, Mandy Martin, $88.25, Claudette Coulter, $45.32, and Heather Agnew, $2.00. The Sexy Business Woman " category brought out the fiercest competition, but Maggie Appleton fought her way to the top with $302.00. Other entrys included Valerie Butt, $238.40, Tammy Silverman, $147.11, Donna Hardy, $251.31, Laura McQuade, $194.69, Kimberly James, $2.00, and Niki Bainbridge, $100.00. Only two women were nominated in the Sexy Expectant Mother category but the results were close. Carol Jackson won it all, however, with $436.69, followed by Patsy Cot- trell with $336.91. For a while it looked like Mabel Cawker would be the only woman nominated in the Sexy Senior category but at the last minute Mrs. Brock gave her a little competition by raising $65.33. Mabel managed to raise a little more, however, and with her $102.64, she won the category. Overall winner Carol Smith was awarded a weekend for two in Toronto's Airport Holiday Inn, with first-class accommodation in the honeymoon suite. All winners received a prize for their efforts, donated from local merchants. lL.
