The pipe will be extended about 80 feet which will allow the outfield fence of the ball diamond to be push- ed back to regulation distance. Township and Regional officials, including Mayor Jerry Taylor and Durham chairman Gary Herrema agreed Monday to the pipe exten- sion which. will cost about $20,000. The Region will pay about $4,000 of the cost, with Scugog picking up the remainder. Mayor Talyor said he expects the work on the -extension to be com- plete within the next two or three weeks. The row of trees that lined the outfield fence at the north dia- mond have already been removed, DURIAN IAM SPA & LEISURE SALES the area will be seeded and a new outfield fence put up. : The north diamond has been con- sidered un-suitable for lob ball and mens fastball games because of the short outfield. The extension of the fences this summer will mean the diamond should be ready for use when Port Perry hosts the Ontario Amateur Softball Association In- termediate C playoff tournament in mid-September. There had been fears that if the north diamond had not been ready, some games in this tournament would have to be played in Green- bank or Seagrave. The emergency pipe in question i is only used in the event of a major breakdown in the town's sewage system. The pipe would be open to carry over-flow sewage to the lake, rather than have it back in basements. -- 986-4275 Final Sur Summer Clearance Wicker Patio Set - Assorted Wicker Baskets - Patio Set Patio Bar Carts - Clearing on all Pool Chemicals Buy a Spa before the end of August and receive a FREE Cedar Skirt to go around it OR if undecided, we have a Rental Model. -- Now In Stock -- (®) Lee Columbia | STITT CX HOME VIDEO 'RCA/Columbia Pictures Home Video COLUMBIA PICTURES PRESENTS @ Sally Field ¢ Artwork and Design 1986 RCA Columbia Pictures Home Video All Rights Reserved 985-366 11 Scugog Street - Port Perry (Beside Rent & Save) -- OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK -- The '"'Strict is Fair' policy of highway traffic enforcement is still in effect, with Ontario Provincial Police Officers concentrating on im- paired driving, excessive speed and seat belt use during the coming Civic Holiday weekend.
