Commencing with the children's gala fun parade there were over 150 entries. 120 particiants in Volley Ball. The swimming, paddling and sailing events...more entries this year than in the past five years com- bined. The new Miss Regatta Beau- ty Queen for '86 is Leslie Bacinet...a Caesarea summer resident. Princesses were: Lisa Fernley, Donna Ferraro and Kathleen Cameron all of Caesarea. The 17 Pine Ridge Cloggers were exceptionally good...and Mr. & Mrs. Parsons were responsible for in- viting this fine group to perform at the Regatta. They surely are a crowd pleaser! 3 children were in- volved as well and were they ex- cellent! We are to be favoured by having the Cloggers at Blackstock Fair -- so -- those who missed out...will have the pleasure of see- ing them there on August 23. I believe their teacher Irene Googh of Toronto was the Commentator for the fine performance. Mary Anne Gibson, owner of the Fish & Chips at Caesarea won the T.V. draw. 50 split 50 draw spon- sored by the Hall Board...winners 1st prize - Bev Geer, Caesarea, 2nd prize - Russ Winter of Scarborough, 3rd prize - Joan Pot- tery of Caesarea. Congratulations to all the winners in the various categories. The committee members extend a warm, sincere thank-you to all those who helped in any way to make the 1986 Regatta such a great success. The 15 wonderful people who canvassed for funds from door to door are to be commended - a special thanks to them. A great Regatta this year and it takes a good . deal of time and effort to plan and finalize events for this annual three day event. The hard working com- mittee deserve a little praise as well - they worked long hours to have every event running off smoothly and efficiently. Our '"'hats off" to them" Although the weather was a bit unsettled in these parts - we trust the Civic Holiday weekend went off well - with a safe, happy and a par- ticularly enjoyable three days for all. There were many community activities...as well as family get-to- gethers reported! Caesarea Community Church We commend the Caesarea Church for their excellent servies on Sunday morning with a splendid at- tendance on hand. Rev. Dr. W.H. Crawford was in charge of the ser- vice. Kevin and Gerry Adams from the Calvin Seminary, Michigan, U.S.A. are doing a fine job in assisting. An excellent message was presented by Kevin on Sunday mor- ning entitled, '"'My Friend Bar- nabas" and wife Gerry was the able pianist. Holy Communion - a Christian Sacrament in which bread and wine are shared was observed, led by Rev. Dr. Crawford, assisted by Kevin Adams, Bill Ingram and Daniel Pugh Jr. with Gerry playing at intervals. Marilyn Brooks...a 16 year old stu- dent...designed the very effective, artistic bulletin for the Sunday mor- ning service. Congratulations to Marilyn! She is the granddaughter of Norman Boynton who attends Caesarea Church! At 7 p.m. another popular, infor- mal hymn sing was featured at the Caesarea Community Church. Vacation Bible School commenced on this past Monday, which will con- clude on August 17. Caesarea Popular Card Game At the Wednesday evehing card game held at the centre the follow- ing were lucky winners: first prize - Marlene Skinner with an 83. Se- cond prize - two tied for-second - Tom Robins and Irene Train - each holding 82. Low score - Mary Poots with 42. Two tied for the lone hands for thie month of July with Anne Har- ran & Faith Lawrence each having 11. A tasty lunch was provided and served by Gloria Parsons & Carrie Miller. A good evening! 'Family Concerns After judging the Miss Regatta Beauty Contest... Morgan and Wan- da Sears hosted a luncheon for the judges...Councillor Neil McLaughlin and Councillor Harvey Graham and wife Joan, of Blackstock. Other guests were Len and Doris Prout. A delicious luncheon was most enjoyable! On Sunday evening a lovely moonlight cruise on Jim and Shirley Leslie's house-boat gave many cot- tagers a really delightful ex- perience. There were 32 on board! . Company with Bill and Kay In- gram of Caesarea on the weekend were: Chris & Bill McKendrick, Orillia, Ashton & Jane McMaster, Oshawa, and Dave & Linda MaclIn- nis, Pickering to see Bill Ingram perform in the Pine Ridge Cloggers. Calvin & Yvonne Holland and family of Bowmanville, were Sun- day guests with his mother Mrs. Neta Fish of Nestleton. In the after- noon they visited with Jim and Audrey Leishman and family of Reaboro and had supper with them. The Leishmans have just returned from a marvellous trip to the West Coast. On their travels they viewed many points of interest...and besides enjoying Expo they called on Aunt Jane Boyes and son Con- norin Carduff, Sask., and stayed for a nice visit. When they arrived home were they surprised! The neighbours had made a huge "Welcome Home' sign for them. Great to have such a fine, friendly neighbourhood! The three Leishman boys...Michael, Jamie and William were thrilled with the Western trip! Weekend guests with Sam and Mabel Cawker, Scugog Pt. Rd., over the Civic Holiday Weekend were son, Arthur & Carroll Cawker of Sudbury. While in the area they call- ed on many relatives, being over- night guests with Grant & Merna Cawker and family and dinner guests with Alan & Eleanor Cawker and family...all of ,Oshawa. They also had a visit with Jim & Marion Cawker of Manchester and Chas. & Nell Cawker of Scarborough. Yours truly was delighted to have Sunday brunch with Art & Carroll at Con- way Place in Port Perry.
