Plans are being finalized for a full day of activities ~ starting at 9:30 a.m. and continuing all day long. When you first arrive at the fairgrounds, take a tour through the buildings and view the exhibits of culinary, homecraft and flower sec- tions, the grain and vegetable displays, along with the large display of commercial exhibits, which expand on out onto the fairgrounds in the ineer field area. Old MacDonald's Farm will be located in the arena. Stop and pet the animals. The directors in charge of this attraction always put a great ~ deal of effort into this feature which is enjoyed by young and old. The horse show, featuring light and heavy horses, along with saddle classes begins at 10:30 and con- tinues throughout the day on the track and at the infield horse ring. Hoskins Stables, a local riding - stable, will perform their Musical Ride, in front of the grandstand. This precison riding to music always provides an enjoyable performance. At 11 o'clock the colourful parade after travelling down the main street of Blackstock, will arrive at the grounds. Immediately following the parades arrival, Betty Lester, OSSA, will officially open the fair. From this point on the fair is in full swing. The midway with it's rides and games of chance will be operating, Rainbow the Clown will be performing, and the cattle show, with keen competition of area farmers, will be commencing along with the 4-H Achievement Days. Many exciting and entertaining attractions are scheduled for the re- mainder of the day. Make sure, you catch the Magic Show put on by Stew and Kathy Garland, the danc- ing of the Pineridge Clog Dancers, the Amateur Talent Show which will take place in the Town Hall and also the Karate Demonstration located outside behind the Town Hall. For individuals who wish to par- "ticipate in on the fun, enter in the Frog Jumping Contest, the Bale Rolling Competition, the Scarecrow and = Sunflower Competition, Horseshoe Pitching or the All Ter- raine Vehicle Pull, emceed' by Harvey Graham. At 4:30 p.m. the Horse Pull will start. The classes of light and heavy horses provide the spectators with an enjoyable show. Following the Horse Pull, take in the Blackstock United Church Beef- Bar-B-Que for supper located within walking distance, just east of the fairgrounds. And finally, to wind up the fair's events, dance the evening away at the Recreation Centre to the music of Herb Vine and Durham County. The dance goes from 9 p.m. to1 a.m. and is held under the authority of a Special Occassion Permit. Admis- sion is $5.00 per person. For more information concerning . the fair, contact the secretary Joyce Kelly at 986-4257. Mark August 23rd on your calen- dar and come to the Blackstock Fair; the fair where all the action happens the same day.
