The Child's Wish Foundation was enriched * by about $3,000 on August 9th, thanks to more than 100 golfers who played in the Second An- nual Hardiman-Mount and Associates tour- naments for charity. The event at Sunnybrae was organized and hosted by insurance brokers Jim Hardiman and Barry Mount (at right in photo). The winning team with a nifty 54 (best ball with handicap) was the Scarborough group from left: Jerry Chinner, John Wagner, Ashley Chinner and Mike Wagner. They defeated the Port Perry four- some of Gary Edgar, Clark Menzies, Doug Bron- son and Jim Betson who also had a 54 score. It took a two-hole playoff. Representing the Child's Wish Foundation was Karen Lent. This organiza- tion provides money and assistance to make "wishes come true' for terminally ill children, such as trips to Disneyland. In the past few years, more than 70 such youngsters have been granted a wish by the Foundation. Results from the Due to a series of mix-ups the results for the last few games have not appeared in the paper. Rain cancellations and make-up games due to holidays have made for a con- fusing situation. Also the results from the Markham Tournament have finally been found. Fifteen representative players from the House League were chosen to represent Scugog Youth Soccer at a tournament in Markham, July 26. The first game was won by default and Scugog went into the second against Newmarket with high spirits scoring quickly on a penalty shot awarded to Sandy Mark. Defense players Michael Smith, Alan Calder, and Ryan Williams worked well. Although most of the mid-field ball control was by Scugog's Karen Kett, Matt Phoenix, Jay Tredway and Jeremy Norton, - Newmarket managed to score. Steven Gilbert smothered lots of hard shots though. The score ended with a 4-1 victory for Newmarket and everyone was pleased with the excellent officiating and super skills of each team. Scugog Youth Soccer Leagues Thursday, August 6 Denny Metals 6 - Canadian Legion 1 This was a super game for the Legion team as they really put: it together to take this game. Working hard on the forward line and giving Denny Metals defense a hard time were forwards Davey Bourgeois with 2 goals, Johnny Hall 1, Steven Gilbert 1, Neil Hancock 1, and Daryl Bourgeois 1. The lone goal for Den- ny Metals was scored by Sandy Mark. Gallaghers Gladiators ? Provincial Signs ? This scrimmage game was a lot of fun for the kids as well as the spectators. With Provincial Signs short-handed it was decided to try and play a make-up game at a later date. Lots of goals were scored in both nets but it was impossible to tally up a score as players were be- ing swapped back and forth. There was no lack of competitive spirit though as many players worked hard - especially Michael Balmforth, Christina Clark, Sara Brown, Andrew O'Toole, Alan Calder, Ryan Williams, and Brett Lawson. Jeremy Norton and Ryan Duff scored 4 and 3 goals' Scugog next faced Rexdale - a Port thrashes Newcastle iti mn =m, ummm defense was really put to the test When the goalie has possession of Port Perry Pee Wee soccer team played against Newcastle on August 12th at the Scugog fields.
