Atom House League Tuesday, August 12 Gallagher's Gladiators - 2 Canadian Legion - 3 This was a make-up game due to an earlier rain cancellation. Gallagher's team was short-handed and the Canadian Legion was out in full force. Davey Bourgeois put his team on the score board early. Jeremy Norton soon put one in of his own. Legions Neil Hancock, Mark ~ Supelsa and Tiffany Reid played very well. Gallagher's Chris Raines, Carlos Feaver and Andrew O'Toole worked hard. Stewart Bruce, up on the forward line was literally robb- ed of a couple goals after carrying the ball all the way. Thursday, August 14 Provincial Signs - 2 Canadian Legion - 3 This was a really close game which could have gone either way. The Legion team gave goalies Brett Lawson and Alan Calder a real workout. Scoring for the Legion were Steven Gilbert with 1 and Neil Hancock with 2. Matt Phoenix and Ryan Duff made some long rushes carrying the ball well. Long passes by Sara Braun and Kelly Phipps put their team in good scoring position. Scoring for Provincial Signs was Alan Calder with 1 and Ryan Duff with 1. August 21 Denny Metals - 8 Provincial Signs - 0 Provincial Signs was up against a pretty tough opponent and they are to be commended for their great ef- fort. The shut-out for the strong Den- ay Metals team was largely due to "the great goal-tending of Leigh Ann Prentice. Provincial Signs forwards just couldn't get one past her - Den- ny Metals forwards attacked relentlessly with goals going to San- dy Mark (1), Michael Nichols (2), and Jeremy Luke (5). Steven Simp- son, Angelo Delisi and Dave Verschuren made some excellent passes. Good positional play and hard work paid off for Denny Metals. Hats off to all the players on the Provincial Signs team who shcw ed great sportsmanship in this (and many other games). Their ne'. g.ve up attitude was ex- emplitied by the good goal tending of Brett Lawson and the relentless defense of Michael Smith.
