---- Fair is coming up this weekend The three day Port Perry Fair for 1986 gets underway this Saturday, August 30th with events and attrac- tions for all members of the family. One of the new attractions this year will be a car rally, starting ear- ly Saturday morning at the Arena and finishing later in the day at the Fairgrounds. Organizers expect that as many as 60 drivers will be taking part in the rally. And also for car buffs, the Fair this year will feature a Classic Car Show on Saturday. Here's a chance to get a close look at some fine old automobiles from yesteryear. Another new wrinkle at this year's Fair willbe the Baby Photo Contest. Visitors to the Fair will ha.e the chance to vote for their favourite baby photo (one penny per vote) and all the proceeds from this will be turned over to the Maternity Ward at Port Perry Hospital. Saturday morning at 11:00 will feature the Junior Gymkhana and Junior Horse Show, and in the after- noon, there will be a coloured dairy show, the light horse show and the ever popular pet show. The Fair Parade will leave the Latcham Centre at 11:00 a.m. and make its way through the streets to the Fairgrounds. The official opening ceremonies will take place at 3:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon featuring the Rebels Drum and Bugle Band, followed by a grandstand show and cake auction at 6:00 p.m. that evening. The line-up of events on Sunday, August 31 include hunter-jumper show at 11:00 a.m., the historical steam demonstrations, fiddle con- test, and harness racing with post time at 1:30. There will be nine heats this year with pari-mutuel betting. On Labour Day, the Gates will open at 8:30 a.m. for a full day of ac- tivities such as pleasure horses, heavy horses, horse pulls, blue grass entertainment, the commer- cial beef auction and the prestigious Ontario County Holstein Show. This year on Saturday, children 14 and under will be admitted to the grounds free of charge. Three-day adult passes will cost $5, or single day passes at $3. The cost for high school students is $2 per day and for public school, the admission is $1 each day. Pre-school kids will not be charged admission to the grounds.
