Gallagher's Gladiators 1 Provincial Signs 1 Gallagher's Gladiators got on the score board quickly with a good shot by Jeremy Norton. Provincial Signs Alan Calder responded by scoring 1 of his own. During the second half Jay Tredway and Brett Lawson took over goaltending keeping the ball out of their nets. Ryan Duff dazzled everyone with his speed and foot- work on a breakaway from midfield but he was thwarted at the goal line. Erin Fuller, Chris Raines and Christina Clark played well for 's as did Sara Brown, Kel- ly Phipps and Ricky Smeal for Pro- vincial Signs. The tie gave each team 1 point. Canadian Legion 0 Denny Metals 1 The strong Denny Metals team - was especially sharp in this game with excellent defense by Julie Popovitch and Karen Kett. Cana- dian Legions forwards Stewart Bruce, Neil Hancock and Johnny Hall made many excellent attacking plays but couldn't quite find the mark. Midfield action by both teams indicated how close this game was with Angelo Delisi, Matt Brown, Darren Kinnunen, Tiffany Reid, Danny Brown and Collin Wiatrzyk working for ball control. The lone Denny Metals goal was scored by Jeremy Luke after a lot of hard work. A 11:30 games Gallagher's Gladiators 3 Denny Metals 1 Gallagher's defeat over Denny Metals was a real upset. This was Gallagher's best all out effort with Brad Strickert and Lisa Dodd play- ing a super game. Jeremy Norton notched 2 and Jay Tredway got 1 for cs ~ Gallaghers. Sandy Mark, Adam Ross, and Steven Cochrane played very well. Once again Jeremy Luke scored Denny Metals goal of the game. Provincial Signs 2 Canadian Legion 0 The Provincial Signs team came out very strong in this second game of the day against Canadian Legion with a 2-0 victory. Both of Gallagher's goals were scored after a lot of passing and hard work. Jeremy Norton got 1 and Jay Tred- way the other. Neither team really controlled the play with lots of mid- field action. One exciting play by Canadian Legion put the ball out to Neil Hancock right in front of the net but his shot was wide. Goalie Mark Brown played a super game and earned the shutout. Carlos Feaver, Andrew O'Toole, Sara Pike and Kim Rollo challenged for the-ball and passed well. Steven Gilbert, Steven Cochrane and Paula Reid worked hard to get some plays going. Following the last games crests and team pictures were handed out by the executive of Scugog Youth Soccer, who had organized the tour- nament so well. Gallagher's Gladiators were awarded the Cup Day Championship Trophy and the League Runner Up Trophy. Denny 'Metals won the League Trophy. The competitive aspect of House League play is secondary to the en- joyment and development of these young athletes.
