It takes awhile to get accustomed to all of this School Work! We are, however, having a good time. Qur Student Council for this year is: President - Joy Werry, Vice- President - Kelly Hart, Treasurer - Glen Degeer, Secretary - Christina McLean, Social Convenors - Tracy Staniland and Scott Mahar. Class Representatives are: Grade 9 - Jennifer Fletcher, Grade 10 - Rob Keast, Grade 11 - Tiffany deKnecht, Grade 12 - Leanne McDonald, Grade 13 - Donna McIntyre. House Leaders are: Ali Kats - Stephanie Whitehead and Jeff Byers. Ookpiks - Donna McIntyre and Blaine Sleep. Tigers - Dawn Locke and Joy Van Camp. On September 14, the students held a car wash at the school. We made a profit of $93.00. Thanks is ex- tended to all of the students who helped and also to the residents of the area who brought their vehicles. On September 16, 11 students and 4 teachers travelled to the O'Keefe Center where the Canadian Opera Company was presenting Macbeth by Verdi. Thankyou, Mrs. VanCamp for organizing the trip! We may not be opera fans, but we did have a good time. Last Friday was Initiation Day for the Grade 9 students. The girls were dressed up as farmers and the guys best costumes were awarded to Aaron Lishman and Michell Phipps. At the slave auction, the Grade 9 students were auctioned off for a grand total of $98.75! Aaron Lishman was the most expensive, as he sold for $32.00. The dance was held on Friday night at the Recreation Centre. It was a fun dance, don't you think so, Grade 9's? (They had to do the polka). Prizes were given to Stuart Dyer and Danielle Millson. Thanks to all for being such great sports!! Everyone had a great time. Thanks to Mr. Fletcher, Mr. Scott and the parent chaperones. Mr. Scott has returned to Cart- wright High after a 2 year absence. Woman shot A woman walking along Perry Street was shot in the arm by a pellet on September 17th. Durham Regional Police say the incident happened at 3 p.m. The pellet, fired from a pellet gunin a nearby upstairs apartment window, apparently ricocheted off a sign and struck the woman. Teacher Marg Van Camp paid a whopping $32 (the highest bid ever) for grade nine student Aaron Lishman. His first task was to share a bag of candy he had won.
