| | ee Le a, See. sae 14 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, September 30, 1986 The first "Trip of the Month" draw by the Port Perry Oddfellows Lodge for this season was made September 22 by Karen Taylor of Marlin Travel. The lucky winner of a trip for two to Las Vegas was Charlie Taber of R.R. 1, Brooklin. At left in photo is Ken Irvine, chairman of the trip of the month draw, and at right is treasurer Bruce Kellett. Travel arrangements for the draws were made by Marlin Travel. All the tickets for the next 11 draws have been sold. Obituary--Fred Brooks Fred Brooks passed away after a short illness at the Oshawa General Hospital on September 14, 1986. He was the dearly loved husband of Hazel Margaret (Parker) Brooks, loved father of Robert Doyle & Garth Frederick and precious daughter-in-law Leslie. Also two dearly loved grandchildren, Kan- dace Lynn & Daryl Rae Brooks. Dear brother of Aliene (Mrs. Roy Hart) of Uxbridge. Predeceased by brothers Tomas, Samuel Herbert and William Robert & sister Mildred (Mrs. Keith Lee). Also survived by several loving nieces and nephews. Starting out helping his brother Herb at his farm for three years, which was then Brillia Hill. He then worked for Mr. Dennis McKenzie at his dealership in Manchester for 5 years. Later he studied his elec- trical trade and became an ex- cellent electrician and worked for Canadian Comstock for sixteen years. The family later moved back to Manchester (where Fred was born), and took over Howsem"s Whiterose Service Station & Lunch Counter, following the death of his good friend Mr. Walter Howsem. Two years later Fred was hired by the Liquor Control Board of On- tario and retired from there some 20 years later, at which time he was manager of the Port Perry Branch Store 90. 2 Fred was a member of the Port Perry Independent Order of Odd- fellows. He received his public school education at Manchester and his high school education at Henry St. High School, Whitby. Funeral Services were held at the Wagg-McDermott-Panabaker Funeral Home, Port Perry on Tues- day, September 16, 1986 at 3:00 p.m. The Oddfellows Lodge held a Memorial Service on Monday even- ing at 7 p.m. Pallbears were Grant Franklin of Brooklin, John Hunter of Port Perry, Terry Hockley of Port Perry, Ronald Parker of Pembrook, George Corriveau of Port Perry and Doug Hart of Uxbridge. Rev. Brian Robinson officiated. Interment Pine Grove Cemetery. LOST TREASURED FAMILY PET Our mature black and white male cat is missing.
